KP Gets Worse with Age
I never noticed that I had KP until I was about 30 when I started getting the red bumps on my thighs. I'm now 43. Every year it gets worse and spreads to more parts of my body. It is now on my lower legs and forearms. I can't imagine how much worse it's going to be in 5 years.

I don't remember having KP as a child. I first noticed it around the age of 13 or 14. The bumps always bothered me but it wasn't too bad. Now it's red and just seems to be getting worse.

I'm 25, and just developed KP in the last few years. It seems to be getting worse with time.

I have KP on my inner thighs and groin. I am 38 now and I've had KP since I was a teeneger. It seems it's getting better now. It could be because it's summer time, and I wear shorts. The only thing I've been using lately is an Aloe Vera/ Vitamin E moisturizing aftersun lotion.

without knowing the age of many of the participants it is impossible to know if the overwhelming majority of sufferers taking the poll will not see an improvement or if they are of an age too young to have yet seen improvement. i suspect most of the people in the poll are in their teens or early 20's, an age when kprf has not been shown to have improved markedly and may be seen as unchanged. i know my kprf has actually improved within the last 2 years, partially a physical thing, but also a greater deal of psychological command has helped to diminish the frequency of flaring up of kprf. i am 19 and probably had it the worst at age 15. hopefully kprf will subside further in the years to come.

I'm a 30 year old male, and I've had KP for as long as I can remember. At least back to elementary school where people used to think they were pimples. Mine has also gotten worse with age. The older I get, the more pronounced it looks and the more places on my body are affected. Both of my parents have it, though neither of them have it as bad as I do.

I have also had KP my entire life but it's the worst on my upper arms and now it's spreading to my lower arms. They literally break out in pimples and since I'm also a big picker I make it worse and worse. The only thing that's ever cleared it up seems to be the sun. I've tried all sorts of creams and it just never works. I am so sad thinking about the warm weather only because I hate even wearing short sleeves. I've even resorted to covering up my arms with this L'Oreal base makeup that I found. Works and looks great but in the end that just aggravates it too. ugh....it's miserable.

I think the whole 'gets better with age' thing is bull****.
My dermatologist told me that too--as did my doctor but it's gotten worse each year. ![]() |

I am 37 and the bumps on my thighs and buttocks seem to keep just getting worse. One of the wonderful dermatologists who I have been to suggested I wear a wet suit if I want to go to the beach and hide my bumps. I have tried everything and nothing seems to help. I am going on a cruise this Saturday and I guess I won't even bring a bathing suit. Some of my bumps are so bad that they get infected.
Anybody else have them only where I have them and as bad as I have them? |

Try going to the tanning salon before you go on your cruise. I know tanning salons aren't good for you but it seems to help somewhat - and makes it easier to bare your skin. Everyone looks better tan and a tan helps camouflage the redness. Have fun...try not to let it bother you...although I know it's hard to do.

I just discovered this site! All three of my children have the same problem, and I think I have had kp my whole life. I only have had it on my upper arms and I just get the bumps not the little red dots. Unfortunately I too am a picker, so now I have scars making it look worse. Tanning did seem to help the scars don't really tan so its still uneven. I look like I have the hives scabs swelling and all. Im allergic to so many lotions and shower gels oils, etc., and when I have a reaction my kp reacts reacts 100 x worse then the rest of my body. I have been using a 70% glycolic acid on them a couple times a week which works really well, except I cant use it where I have broken the skin. So as of yet I have not had cleared my arms up because I am constantly scratching these or picking at these damn bumps, either on purpose or in my sleep! So Im thinking the more years that have gone by, the more scar tissue Ive developed so if ANYTHING its much worse!
