My KP has gotten worse- not improved and I'm 36! I've also started to get acne on my face. Don't know if that's related. I was thinking maybe my hormones are out of whack or something and that's what's causing the changes.

Hi! I'm new here. I'm 34 years old and i've had KP my whole life, but never knew there was a name for it. I just figured it was my dry skin. I always said I had sandpaper skin. I just found out what it was about a week ago. I have it all over my arms, legs and torso (thankfully none on my face). It is reddest on my upper legs, but since I don't wear shorts (hate the way my legs look in them - not related to KP), no one else can see how red it is there. Most people don't seem to notice the KP and except when I was in elementary school, I've never been too embarassed by it. My husband noticed it once but then promptly forgot about it. It bothers me, but not because of how other people view it, but because I just don't like the way my skin feels. Actually, my KP got worse when a dermatologist gave me some prescription lotion (I don't remember what it was). I used it for about six months then quit as the KP was getting worse.

Hi, I'm new and I'm 27. I seriously thought I was the only one who had KP. I've had the condition since I was a kid and nobody in my family and none of my friends has it except me. It's made me very self-consicous about it, so I always cover up (that's why I don't like summer). I have it on my arms, legs and thigh area and my confidence has gotten to a real low. I exfoliate, moisturise, body brush, which has helped improve the texture slightly, but it hasn't disappeared. I'm hoping this forum is going to help me, if not getting rid of KP completely, then at least realise the condition is a lot more common than I'd previously thought and regain some of my confidence back.

I am new to this site. I just wanted to comment on KP and age. I find that the older I get the worse my condition gets. I guess I always had this condition, but never really noticed it until I was about 15. It wasn't too bothersome and it would come and go. When I hit 25 years old, it came with a vengenance and hasn't left me since. I have it on my arms, back, legs, buttocks, everywhere really. I also have an olive complexion and when the redness disappears, it leaves a brown spot. So either I am red and bumpy or I have brown spots that make me look like a dalmation.

I have tried everything and nothing works. So I live my life in pants and long sleeves.

Never had KP as a child. . only after giving birth to my first born did it appear. It has only gotten worse. I feel it has got to be either hormone or stress related. Stress does seem to make mine flare up bad!!! I had my daughter at 21 now 26 and it has only gotten worse

Like I said in my other post that my KP was at bay with the use of Ssoap after the birth of my first child. Here I am 5mos. after the 2nd and it's all over AGAIN. I know it must be hormonal for me and I must have at least 6 mos till I will see great improvement again. It really sucks, I lost all of the weight from the pregnancy and I really don't want to wear shorts only if I'm up and around like at the amusemant park we went to in July I wore them but if I'm going to be sitting around with friends I'd wear capri's or the longer cargo shorts. Maybe by next summer! Kim

Re: KP and Age

my kp is getting a whole lot worse - i'm 34 and it's spreading. I think my little boy may have it, he's had the bumps on his arm in patches but they've gone only recently i am noticing the redness on his face aswell.
