KP is incrediably common in my dad's family. Oddly enough so is Type I (juvenile) diabetes. I wonder if the autoimmune thing has something to do with it?

No one in my family, even the ones that are overweight have diabetes. My moms kp disappeared when she was around 25, i am 22 now... does anyone know the chances of mine disappearing around this time?

I inherited KP from my father who only became a diabetic through age. My mom on the other had who has been a diabetic for most of her life has got the best skin ever its like a baby's so I dont really see the connection.

I don't have diabetes, and I don't seem to have a genetic predisposition to it.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a connection between type 2 diabetes and KP, since it's common for this type to be significantly overweight, and skin problems become more common when people get larger. (For a variety of reasons, but obviously with KP you could have the cold skin effect from the extra layers of fat.) As for Type 1... Maybe there could be a correlation just in the sense that KP is usually a genetic problem, and Type 1 usually is, too. So if you have someone with serious genetic problems, maybe KP is just more likely to be there in the mix. My understanding is that genetic problems in humans tend to become compounded over time rather than reduced. Because humans do not abide by natural selection, these diseases are not selected against, and have little to do but accumulate. Holy hell, where is all this spam coming from? lol |
