Smile What to do first??

Hi I am the mommy of a 2 yr old little boy with KP. He was just properly diagnosed with KP. I was very frustrated when the Dermatologist told me there was nothing I could do for him. Then I found this site with lots of helpful ideas but a little overwhelmed as to where to start first. He has it pretty bad on his little legs and his arms and on his cheeks. I guess I will keep reading on and making notes. I guess I should start with a good moisturizer. Thanks for all the ideas. I will keep reading and let you know how we are doing

Re: What to do first??

Hi MM,

Welcome to the KP Forum. Have you read the thread in Parents Corner titled "Success Stories: What Works for KP on Children"? You will find some ideas there that have been used successfully by other parents. Please let us know what you try and if it helps.

Re: What to do first??

Hi Mommy Murphy,

Isn't it overwhelming?! For my son, who is 3 and a half, we have tried several creams and ointments the dermatologist prescribed, along with Eucerin and Aquaphor, exfoliating with a washcloth, etc. For my son, not one of these worked. The one that helped just a little bit was a cream the derm prescribed called Umectra. But it only worked maybe 15%.

On the thread "what worked" you can read about our apple cider vinegar trial. In a nutshell, I swab ACV on his affected skin every night before bed, and 90% of his KP is gone. I got the ACV at Whole Foods, it's made by Bragg.

It was only $4.99. It has been a miracle for us, but every one is different, of course. You can email me if you want to ask questions (or you can ask them on the "what works" thread)

Good luck!
Linda

Re: What to do first??

Hi Linda

I have started using the ACV but I find it is stinging. I think the next time I may dilute it a bit. Then I have been applying coconut oil before bed. I seems to help. I am going to keep this up for a while and see if it improves.
