Does KP make a baby really fussy or what is causing the KP?

Hello. New to this site.

My son is 10 months old. He has been a VERY fussy baby since about 3 days old. We ended up on an Amino acid formula and then moved down to Alimentum.

He was still very fussy and cranky, uncomfortable all the time.

We have recently went to soy formula and saw a great improvement in his attitude for about the first 2 weeks. Now he is back to being very fussy most of the day and his KP has gotten a lot worse.

Can there be any connection with soy or wheat and KP and causing them to be SOOOO fussy?

He does not get any milk and very very little wheat.

Thank you for your help, Wendy

Wendy - I can't speak specifically to _your_ son or anyone else's. however, a family member of mine was fairly fussy as a baby. She was colicky and had eczema that she would scratch quite badly. Ultimately she spent some time at a children's hospital when quite young - 2 or 3 - while they figured out her allergies. They eliminated foods and her eczema and stomach problems all improved or went away. During stressful times as an adult, she is still susceptible to food allergies. There are several common food allergies. You could start looking at more allergy info if you need more questions for his doctor(s):
Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America - Information About Asthma, Allergies, Food Allergies and More!
"Any food can cause an allergic reaction, but only eight foods cause nine out of ten reactions. They are milk, soy, eggs, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish."

another site for looking into the allergy/gastrointestinal distress/dermatitis connection:
AAAAI - referral, allergist/immunologist, sinusitis, diagnose of asthma, allergies, allergy, hayfever

good luck! i remember it's pretty tough for the parents too when a baby is so uncomfortable! - bd
