I have no idea how to handle this. My son is only 8 months old & was diagnosed yesterday with KP rubra faceii & I can't seem to find anything telling me what products are safe to use on his face. He has it really bad & it's tearing me up. I know it doesn't hurt but I don't want him to have scars because of this. Someone anyone please give me some information.

I hope you find something there to try that will help him. If you do, please post your experience on that thread.

So sorry to hear about it. I've also just found out that my son ( 8 years old) has KP, and he has it really bad too - from the neck down to just before his feet. A lot of it are red rashes and he keeps telling me that his thighs hurt, and the reddest and bumpiest lot are on his thighs.

I have gone through some of the posts here, and am using LacHydrid for washing it, and Cetaphil for moisturing his skin. This morning I went out to buy some Omega 3 capsules for him as well as Beta Carotene tabs for additional Vitamin A.

It is tough for him, as he already has eczema. I'll be bringing him to see a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner tomorrow, as I believe there is always a cure somewhere somehow. After all his asthma got cured through Chinese Medicine.

Will post something more when after the visit.

thanks for the link.

My husband brought my son to see the sinseh (that's how we call the Chinese doctor here), and he said that my son's blood was cold. In Chinese medicine, any disease or problem is believed to be caused by an inbalance in the body, described as either hot or cold, and can be categorized into different types such as wet hot, or dry hot etc...

Anyway, he said it was a small problem and can be treated quite easily. He also said that allopathic (?sp) medicine will say there is no cure. My son is given some medicine to take, and so far has taken them for 5 days.

His skin has improved tremendously. Most parts that are not inflamed are now quite smooth. The bumps have reduced by about 70%.

The parts that are inflamed have also got better. I would say around 40%. The rashes I believe will take a longer time to cure , as some have pus in them.

My son was also told to avoid sea food. Fish inclusive.

I still moisturize his skin with the Cetaphil, sometimes with Neutrogena, and Olay Total Effects for his face, but I don't use the Lac since he says it hurts.

I am very happy to see the improvements. I know this son of mine has always responded well to Chinese medicine and this seems to be another case where he gets better with Chinese medicine.
