Favorite Bath Oils for Kids?

Does anyone have a fave bath oil for their child with dry skin and only a slight tendency to KP? I actually just tossed in some cooking oil (rice bran I think) last time for my child. I haven't looked in any stores or sites yet, thought I'd ask around.
Thanks! - bd

The thing that I have used on my daughter for about 3 years now is by Avon. It's the vanilla cream for dry skin bubble bath they have. This is what has actually reduced her KP greatly on her thighs and arms. Don't know if it will work for you, but it did for us. Since I found this sight I've actually been looking for something for her face, which has gotten somewhat worse since puberty is starting. Too early to tell for sure, but I believe the Neutrogena face wash I heard about on this site is helping.
Good luck on the bath. If you are somewhere where you can find Avon products, I would say it is worth a try. She bathes in it about 3 times per week.

Re: Favorite Bath Oils for Kids?

I wondered if anyone has used Keri Oil before?? It's only available in Aus/NZ however you can purchase online. I used it when my children were young for any kind of skin issue.
You squirt into the bathwater but dont use soap. It's made by the same company who used to make Pinetarsol for itchy skin. Keri Oil is also okay to use on the scalp but does cause the hair to look oily, but you can just tie the child's hair back if possible for the day before washing with a mild, non-allergenic shampoo.
I think washing ourselves with harsh, chemical ridden soaps is bad for the natural oils in our skins and promotes the right conditions for a variety of skin conditions. We also have tiny particles of detergent residue in our clothing after washing. I think we need to look at a variety of our self/clothes cleaning methods.

I wondered if anyone has used thought to try Alpha Keri Oil before?? It's only available in Aus/NZ however you can purchase online. I used it when my children were young for any kind of skin issue.

Alpha keri oil has liquid paraffin, (mineral oil) and lanolin oil. It puts a layer of oil on the surface of the skin to stop water evaporating from the skin surface. I love the feel of my skin after using it. But remember to just pat dry, don't rub!!

To be honest I think scrubbing ourselves with harsh, chemical ridden soaps all over every day is very bad for the natural oils in our skin and promotes the right conditions for a variety of skin conditions. Unless you've gone out to work in the field for 10 hours a day, it's unecessary.

We also have millions of tiny particles of harsh detergent residue in our clothing after washing. I think we need to look at a variety of our self/clothes cleaning methods.
