Hi all,
I've just found this site tonight, so please excuse me if I have missed something that is already on here. I just wanted to post and ask some advice, especially from anyone in New Zealand. My son (19 months old) had what I always had thought was a bad teething rash (on his face, arms and legs) that just never seemed to go away (he is almost there with all his teeth). I took him to the doctor last week to finally see if we could figure out what it was, as it was getting worst. The doctor wasn't too sure so decided to treat it like eczema for a couple of weeks and if that didn't work, be referred to a dermatologist. Eczema didn't sound quite right (due to no scratching and not looking like eczema) so I did a little bit of web research and self diagnosed him with Keratosis Pilaris. It turns out I had to take him back a few days later (due to a cut lip ) where I mentioned my web discovery to which the doctor agreed was spot on The doctor has given us a script for some Urea cream (haven’t got it yet so not quite sure what it is or quantities) and that is where we are now.My hubby and I think that the next step is to probably go and see a dermatologist (there is one just down the road) and find out what are the options for him and confirm our / the doctors diagnosis. So my questions to you all (being a newbie) are: What should we ask the dermatologist? What are the best creams / treatments for young children? Are most soaps, etc now out of the question due to them drying out his skin? What soaps, etc can you recommend (preferably those available in NZ)? Thank you all in advance Donna |

Hi Donna and Munkafats,
Welcome to the KP Forum. To post a new thread, click "Forums", then click "General Discussion". You will see "New Thread" on the left, on the same line as the page numbers. Let me know if you still need help. If you want to post a question or comment on a topic that is already being discussed, it might be best to post on that thread to increase the chances of being answered. kebod |
