HI, new member here. i was wanting to get some recommendations on a good bath wash soap to use on my 3.5 yr old. she has KP on her arms. thanks!

The first thing you have to think about is that your baby is too young for tryinng some medicated soaps, so I'll suggest you use one with vegetable glycerin. It also can have coconut oil, or any vegetable oil for moisturizing.

If the soap contains animal glycerin or lard (like most commercial brands) it will contain keratin.

KP sufferers should run away from keratin. Keratin is a protein that is overproduced in the KP sufferer's skin. It causes follicules to become clogged, also for some people it causes many allergic reactions.

any recommendations on a brand? maybe neutrogena?

I think Neutrogena has keratin, let me check that out...

Hmm it has sodium tallowate, which means it was made by mixing caustic soda (Sodium hydroxide) and tallow (lard)=animal fat, so it should contain keratin.

When I made soaps I used coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, pure vegetable glycerin, etc...not lard. There should be some products on the market like this. Let me see...

I think another member can help you out too and suggest a good soap.

I visited the Crabtree & Evelyn link, but they aren't so specific with the complete ingredient list.

In order to choose a good soap you'll need to make sure you know the ingredients(read the label or ask).

Some people say: 100% vegetable glycerin...

You can't make soap out of just glycerin, it is a by product of soapmaking (saponification). It will never be 100%, maybe 10% or so.

Chemically it is imposible, so you'll need to know with what they mix the caustic soda (NaOH), it should be, like I said a "fat".

The "fat" that we are looking for: Vegetable oil (i.e. coconut oil, olive oil, castor opil, jojoba oil, palm oil, sunflower oil, avocado oil, almond oil). Any of those or a combination.

I think I found it. I have read all of her website and it seems that her products are all vegan. This is the kind of ingredients that you should look for. I'm sure there are more websites like this...Good Luck!
