15 month old daughter diagnosed today

Hi there.
I had never heard of this condition before, but took my 15 month old daughter to the doctor today as a "rash" all over her body, including lower legs, thighs, buttocks, forehead, cheeks,, chest, back and lower and upper arms, was worsening. My GP diagnosed Keratosis pilaris. She looks awful. I thought it could be resolved and feel rally sad after reading info that it can last her whole life. Will she always have these heinous looking red rashes over her entire body?
Has anyone else had this since childhood and how do you manage the symptoms?
thanks

Re: 15 month old daughter diagnosed today

Hi, I have been a KP sufferer since the age of 8 months old. I am now 24. I have never found anything that helps and have been seen by many dermatologists that tell me that there is no "cure". and just usually give me a script for somthing that dosent work and they also tell me to stay away from hot showers that seem to aggervate it more. I have a daughter that is 2 years old, she has KP as well but not as bad as me. It has been a life long struggle for me to this day. I am always hiding behind long sleeves even in the dead of summer. "Try" not to make to much of a deal about it as it will just make her feel worse as she starts to become more aware of it herself. I would definatly consult your doctor before trying any special cream or lotions on her...they could be too strong for her since she is still just a baby.
