Can you help?
I am a mommy to 6 dc.
My oldest two have KP. My dd is 15 and has kp on her face and arms and also has dishydrotic eczema on her hands. My ds is 14 and has KP on his face and arms as well. First of all, do any of you have ideas on how to treat KP on teen faces? My youngest ds (5yo) has MANY food allergies. This past May, he began developing a rash. It began only on his arms/elbows. Eventually, it progressed to his entire body for the most part. He was seen by 3 peds at the drs office. The first thought it was gionotti crosti (papular acrodermatitis). Then, we were given a dx of frictional lichenoid dermatitis. Finally, we were sent to the derm. He was also unsure, but treated it like eczema and it responded. In Nov, he had his regular appt with his allergist who is VERY well known and highly respected. He thought that ds had KP. I am sooooo confused!!! Everything I read says that KP is NOT itchy. My ds gets tiny bumps which sometimes turn into papules or lichenoid areas depending on WHERE he gets them. If the bumps are on his knees, they are more papular and sometimes will form larger plaques. However, if he gets it on his abdomen, he gets tiny bumps that DO look like KP, but they are intensely itchy. I have heard that there is papular eczema, but have posted various places and haven't found much info. So, I thought I would post here to ask if anyone has KP that is intensely itchy.Any insight that you can give would be very helpful!! Last edited by happymommy; 12-21-2007 at 04:08 AM. |

Re: Can you help?
Hi...I thought maybe on your teen if pro-active would help. It is suppose to be very good with exfoiliating and moisturizing. (you can also pick and choose your type of treatment...dry, oily, etc.) As for the young ones, I have three that are 5, 2 and 1. All have kp. I'm going tonight to buy some eucerin cream for them and apply it as often as possible. Thats what their doc told me to do. I hope it helps.

Re: Can you help?
KP Duty lotion and exfoliating scrub. The website is dermadoctor.com. It is a little costly but well worth the money. My eight year old son had it terribly on face, arms, back, butt, abdomen and sides. It took about two weeks and it cleared up. The lotion is $36 and I think the scrub is $36 or $42.
