new - 2 sons with KP on face
Hi there. I think I may have been here several years ago when my 1st son was dx-ed with KP. Anyway, I'm Alison. My 1st son started having KP symptoms on his face and arms at around 9mths of age but wasn't diagnosed until about 15 months. Ped kept saying it was infant eczema but I knew better. Finally she started looking more closely and dx. KP - derm. confirmed it. We tried treating it with amlactin (bad mommy!
- but that's what the ped and derm recommended). Not much help and it used to burn him. poor little guy. The KP got better in the summer, worse in the winter. We sort of forgot about it because for the past few years it's been so mild. But he's 7 now and it has just started flaring up again the past few weeks. Stupid us - we thought he just wasn't washing his face well enough and getting pimples... Then I remembered about the KP. duh!! I also realized that my youngest son (4) showed the same signs - mostly on his face but some on his arms - though he seems to be getting a red rash with the KP too, which older son never had. So here I am, looking for any new developments in treatment over the past few years. Seems like the same treatments: exfoliate, moisturize. I think I will try the coconut oil this time though. And I lacteem cream - I'll look into that. I'll post a few pics when I can. I noticed there are none in the kids section and none of the face. Alison |

Hi Alison,
Welcome to the KP forum. I hope you are able to find something here to help your sons. It would be helpful for others if you post pics. Post again. kebod |
