Aldara Cream (imiquimod)
Has anyone used this for keratosis. My daughter was just diagnosed today with KP. Previously, she was mis-diagnosed with molluskums (sp) and was prescribed Aldara cream. I applied it daily for about 12 days and it looked like it was beginning to dry up the KP but her KP was spreading. When I returned her to her Ped. she rediagnosed her with KP and prescribed Ellidel but I've since found out that Ellidel causes cancer and it is set to be taken off the market.
Anyway my questions is "Has anyone used Aldara Cream for KP ?? TIA ~ |

Keratosis Pilaris is basicly excess Keratos in the hair folicle shaft, thus resulting in bumps... the only thing that can prevent it, is to keep the skin damp (try a organic well-hydrating moisturizer)
![]() or u can try this; Keratosis Pilaris Skin Treatment Cream Remember, there are many skincare products that can help with keratosis pilaris... may i ask, how old is your girl?? i remember when i first noticed i had KP, i was around 10yrs old. Im now 18yrs of age, and still experience KP on my upper arms & legs... ![]() maybe it will fade with time (or maybe even within a few years) |

My daughter is now 7 years old. I used Head & shoulders (the blue bottle) on her skin for a few weeks and that seemed to help. I also applied moisturizer after she got out of the tub. I used an exfoliating brush/squishy. It got better for a bit and just in the last 2 weeks I've noticed it getting worse again. I'll go back to the H&S and see if that helps. |

o.O !! k.
sometimes im not sure bout cures, because there are allot of alternative treatments.. yes, we should be very carefull what goes onto our skin... 2 options;salasylic acid scrub OR cream/moistorizer. (one that locks in moisture) i think there is a product to banish the bumps.. iv never tried it (because apparantly the chemists here havnt heard of it), but its called Lac-Hydrin cream. you could get it over the counter at any chemist (prob not in Nz though) anyway, i useally just use a "netted" loofah, those exfoliating gloves and Loreal AHA exfoliating scrub (greenish tube), (its soft and doesnt scratch), johnsons baby soap (its nice and creamy). i finish with palmers cocoa butter (it helps with any scaring too). but yeh, i think head and shoulders should work fine too... hope her condition gets better... ![]() |
