Recent Improvement of 3yr's KP

We just took a family vacation to Hawaii and our daughter's KP was noticably improved toward the end of our trip. She is only 3 years old so we have never officially tried to treat her KP. I'm not sure if it was the sunscreen we slathered on her throughout the days or the sunshine itself, or maybe the salty ocean water, but her arms and legs were almost smooth. It makes me think that there is still something to be done about this condition. She has it from her shoulders to her wrists and thighs to ankles. Her face often has what look like pimples, but I know are KP. She was in the water for hours each day, both salt and fresh water. Her skin still looks good, but it's only a matter of time before it goes back to being bumpy. Sigh. I just wanted to share our brief improvement...

Re: Recent Improvement of 3yr's KP

I had Kp worse when pregnant with both my children. At the time, I did not know what it was and the doctor told me it was hormones. She said to go out in the sun and the vitamins from the sun would help(I don't know why vitamins from the sun would help hormones)....I know that doesn't make much since, but the more time we spent in the pool, the better the kp got. And (bad for me) I don't usually wear sunscreen.

My daughter's face also gets better in the summer with hours swimming and I do use sunscreen. This kind of goes against the idea of the importance of moisturizing in treating KP. I would think that chlorine and sun would really dry out the skin and make it worse. There is no rhyme or reason to this condition or treating it! So frustrating. It seems like the more attention I give it, the worse it gets!
