Twinmama needs help!

new here. just found out my 9month old daughter has KP. Her twin brother does not. She has it on her legs, arms, and cheeks.
I know NOTHING about any of this. The DR didn't tell me anythng except that she has it and probably always will. What can I do to help her?

Re: need help

Hi Twinmama,
Welcome to the KP forum. I hope you can find help here.
Have you checked out "Parents' Corner"? If not, click Community Forums in upper left corner and then click "Parents Corner". You will find a lot of different discussions there on how to handle KP for children.

LOL, Kebod!

You posted just a minute before I did! Maybe I take too much time translating my thoughts from Spanish to English!

Re: need help

Hi Twinmama,
Go to the Parent's Corner and ask your question. I would be happy to answer if I knew the answer, but I don't. I'm sure there are a lot of other mamas there who can help you find the answer and learn more about treating little ones.

Re: need help

Hello Twinmama:

I'm going to send a copy of this thread to the Parent's Corner forum, hopefully you find the answer there. There's a group of friendly mamas that care a lot for their children, so I know it's the right place for you. Good Luck!

I hope this can help: when I was a kid the derm told my mom to have me use neutrogena transparent bar soap. My KP was completely gone in 2 weeks.

Re: Twinmama needs help!

Apart from being a scientist, I'm also an aromatherapist and soapmaker. I used to have my own natural aromatherapy products company (1998-2005).

While producing my soaps I used non-comedogenic vegetable oils to minimize pore clogging. Vegetable oils have the added benefit of NOT including keratin, which #1 may irritate skin and #2 may aggravate keratin buildup in KP (which is what we are trying to get rid of in the first place).

I don't think that the Neutrogena transparent bar is a good choice for KP. It has Sodium Tallowate, a substance made from sodium hydroxide (NaOH), better known as caustic soda or lye, and animal fat (tallow or lard). I wouldn't recommend this soap (or any other soap with animal fat in it) due to the Keratin issue, however, for people that don't have KP it is GREAT.

Perhaps your improvement was a result of a better hydrated skin due to the soap's glycerin content? I dunno.

BTW, this gives me a great idea! - I will post a recipe for soapmaking MY WAY, that can be modified by adding different vegetable oils, exfoliating seeds, etc. This is going to be a great project! (It may take a while as I'm busy adding other enhancements to our forums)
