Re: help-new here
Hi twinmama!
I'm new here, too. I have no idea what oil pulling is either, and I've had KP basically my whole life!!! I think my 8 month old daughter is developing KP. I am in the process of weaning her, and it wasn't until I started her on milk-based formula that I noticed it on her cheek. I've read on these boards that a dairy-free diet can help with KP, but as long as she's not "allergic" to dairy- like my 2yo is- then I think she needs it for now. Her bumps are white and small. They don't seem to bother her at all. I just noticed today a little patch that is forming on her arm, too. Grrr...so frustrating! I just wanted to tell you what I do for both of my kids b/c of their sensitive skin. I bathe them in warm, not hot, water with a little bit of Cetaphil in the water. I let them soak for a little bit. The only "soap" they get on their body is from the shampoo that rinses off their hair. I am currently using J&J on their hair, just b/c I have it and haven't bothered buying anything new yet! When they get out of the tub I pat them dry and within a few minutes my husband and I "lube" them up! We used to use Aveeno baby creams and lotions, which work fine, but now I just use regular Eucerin Lubriderm. It is safe for babies, too. It works really well. I slather them with it and then put their jammies on. When I took my son to the allergist last week I showed the doc my daughter's cheek. She pretty much said it was "plugged" which I took to mean KP! She said to just keep moisturizing, so that's really all I plan to do for now, especially if she isn't bothered by it! Sorry this got so long- Hope it helped! :-) J |

Re: help-new here
Just got back from the store and I happened to buy Cetaphil cleanser and am going to use up my Aveeno moisturizers before I buy the cetaphil lotions. I just took a stab in the dark and bought that, so I am glad to hear it is what yo use.
My kids were on Nutramegin which is a hypoallergenic formula and we just switched them to whole milk. She developed the bumps while on that formula, so I don't know if it has to do with milk or not since it was hypoallergenic. BUT, I did notice she started to get them after I started to feed solid foods....Who knows. I just don't want her to have this in school. I could care less about the legs and arms-it is the face that freaks me out. (Not only do I have clear skin but I am a beauty consultant so this really bugs me) Thanks for the tips! |

Re: help-new here
My son was on Allimentum (Similacs Nutramigen), too. Even though it is hypoallergenic, it is still milk based, which means it has the milk protein in it. Even though he was on it he still had eczema b/c it turns out that he is allergic to milk protein (as opposed to lactose intolerant). KP is a form of eczema- from what I've been told-but doesn't mean "allergy".
Come to think of it, my daughter's KP probably started around the time she started eating solids, too, which was just a couple weeks before we started her on any formula. Who knows! It's all so crazy! Maybe their little bodies just need to get used to all of the new stuff going on and they'll grow out of it soon. Wishful thinking! |

Re: help-new here
So frustrating. Used the cetaphil tonight. Hoping it helps. I COULD start over and see what food is bothering her, but with twins that is hard to do-too time consuming. I just hope she outgrows it!

Re: help-new here
Not that it really matters, but I keep getting Eucerin and Lubriderm confused. I use Eucerin (original) lotion on the kids, not Lubriderm. In an earlier post I called it Eucerin Lubriderm- mommy brain!
