Mother of 2 with KP
Hello, my name is Tammie. I am a 39 year old mother of 3 boys, two whom have KP.
I am so glad to have a "name" for this skin conditon that my oldest has. When he was little the doctor kept telling me it was an allergic reaction to the carpet. I never really questioned it, even though it never went away. My second son, who is 11, had/has no signs of it whatsoever. As a matter of fact, he has beautiful smooth/tanned skin. It was when I had my 3rd son, who is now 1, that I started quetioning it. He too has KP. It wasn't until today when I took him in for his 1 year check up that I finally found out what it was called. I am also glad to know this site is here so I can learn more about it through other's experiences with it. |

Tammie,
My 21 month old daughter inherited Keratosis Pilaris from her Daddy. Although her condition does not appear red and blotchy her arms and face are covered with small bumps and her skin always feels so dry. At 18 months our pediatrician diagnosed her with KP and informed me that he did not know of a cure and recommended trying different creams and lotions to treat the symptoms. He also stated that there were steroid creams, peels and other more abrasive treatments that could be tried as she gets older. YIKES!! I have tried several different lotions including Eucerin's Advanced Healing lotion, which was recommended by my best friend who is a pediatric nurse. Nothing seemed to improve the symptoms and I was heartbroken that my beautiful little girl had a bumpy face and arms. I recently read and article in ParentLife magazine that mentioned a mom who had found a lotion that worked for her children's skin condition. I contacted her and was introduced to Arbonne's ABC line of skin care products. I was skeptical at first but she allowed me to take full size samples home and try them on my little girl. These products are botanically based and do not contain any irritating dyes or fragrances. I mainly used the lotion and baby oil after her bath and saw an improvement after day 1. As my doctor stated, the condition is not cured, but my daughter's skin is so much softer and looks so much better. I have since purchased these products for my own personal use and have been very pleased with the results. I highly recommend trying these on your little boys. Please e-mail me through the link on this forum if you need more information. Good luck from one mommy to another ![]() Last edited by abcmommy; 07-03-2007 at 03:17 PM. |
