JacobsMommy & BethyB - still there?

I've been working my way through reading all the posts to find info applicable to my 1yo daughter w/ KP on face and limbs.

JacobsMommy & BethyB seem to have children similar w/ kp similar to mine (onset around age 1, involving face, etc) and I would love to get input from them. Their posts date back to 2005 - I've tried to send 'private message' and email, but no luck.

Any assistance in contacting these Mommies would be greatly appreciated.

Also - any other Mommies w/ 1 y.o. w/ KP - would like to exchange ideas? I'm still in the early phase of treating my daughter's KP and don't have enough time yet to tell if my efforts are making a difference.

There is a lot of info on this parents board, but I'm hesitant to apply some of them on 1yo delicate skin. For example, does anyone have advice/experience w/ exfoliating 1-yo skin? It seems to work for some, but should do it on baby.

Any input/advice is greatly appreciated.

ps -
Like many mom's on this forum - I've discussed all these issues w/ my pediatrician and w/ a derm doc - neither were helpful.

Hi Boopydoo:

Sorry, I don't qualify as a Mommy, however I am a Daddy, so that comes close..

Our 4-year old son had a mild case of kp on the back of his arms, so I tried a couple of formulas that I made up for my wife's kp. Koru kp Oleum (based upon Extra Virgin Coconut oil) and Lacteem kp Junior Fragrance free (based upon mild AHAs lactic (from milk), citric (from citrus) and tartaric (from grapes).

I am pleased to say that he responded very well to the Lacteem kp Junior, and now his kp is gone.

To see if it also works for other children, I gave away free trial samples to a whole lot of parents here, and overall the results were very good.

To read more here is the link What's worked for your kids?

Kind regards,

Annuu

Mommies AND Daddies - sorry

Annuu, Thank you for the reply and sorry I did mean Daddies too!

I have already checked out your website. Which formula do you recommend for 1 yo? Extra virgin coconut oil seems to be mentioned quite frequently in this forum, so I am interested in your cream/lotion. Do you recommend using both products at the same time or individually? Alternate days?

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Boopydoo!

Thanks for your interest! I've realised that everyone's skin is different...our little fella's kp did not respond well to the Extra Virgin Coconut Oil blend (Oleum), in fact it dried his skin... whereas I receive glowing reports about how well Oleum works for their children!

Our little guy responded well to Lacteem kp Junior, so this was the one that I offered to parents to try out for their children. It seemed to work for them too!

What I can suggest is this, if you are interested in trying out both products for your daughter, then I can include a little tester jar of the 'other' product along with your order, i.e. if you order Lacteem kp Junior Fragrance Free, then I will include a freebie jar of Koru kp Oleum, and vice versa. This way you can try both, to see which suits best!

Apply once a day, after her bath is best because that's when her skin is most hydrated.

Maybe you could apply each to a different part of her skin consistently, say Lacteem on Left arm and Oleum on Right arm, for a week or two. That way you can see which is working best for her. Then you could carry on with the best treatment on all of her kp.

Sound like a good plan?

Kind regards,

Annuu

Hi Annu,
So - should I just go to your website to order? Do I need to mention anything when I order to get a sample of the other product as well or will you just know? Do you suggest the Lacteem for KP on my toddler or the oleum? What did more peole have more success with when you had your trial? Thanks again!

Concerned Mom...

To all,

I have been reading the comments on KP that you have posted. I have to honestly say that this is the first good lead I have ever received on KP. I have a 4 year old son, that has had moderately severe KP on his face, arms and legs. I have tried everything from prescriptions that are detrimental to his skin to every lotion I can find. This time of year in particular it is at its worst for him and it tends to be a little itchy for him. IF anyone has any insight or something new I can try that will not thin out the layers of his already delicate skin, I would be so thankful.

Thanks.

Hi Quentin:

Based upon our family's experience, and from the trial in this forum confirming that other children have responded well to Lacteem kp Junior, I would choose Lacteem kp Junior (probably fragrance free if you are concerned about that). Also, because Oleum is ultra concentrated, the little freebie jar will go a long way!

Perhaps you could send an e-mail or PM letting me know that the order coming through is for Quentin, and I will pop the Oleum sample into that order.

Cheers!

Annuu

Hi Annuu,

I checked out your site and I am going to try to order both products. We have been battling this for over 2 years now. We have found that in from August through December, my son's skin is manageable. However, from January through July it is very bumpy on his arms and legs in particular.

Thank you for providing the website in your comments posted to others.

Sincerely,
Jason's Mommy

Hi everyone,

I just found this site and am very happy to know that this is so common (well, not happy that other ppl have it, but you know what i mean). I just got back from taking my daughter to the dermatologist to find out what all these bumps are. I jumped on the computer to see what I could find out about it. She is 15 months old and has had it since she was about 8 months. My son is 4 and has had it since he turned 1. I've been told it is genetic although I don't know of anyone in the family that has it. So this is all completely knew to us. The ped. kept telling us it was eczema. We've been using Dove soap and trying differnt lotions and creams (Cetaphil, Eucerin, among others) but nothing really seems to make that much of a difference.

My daughter gets the red cheeks as well, cute now, not so cute when she's a teenager. They'll just turn red out of nowhere. Today they are red and smooth but sometimes they're a little rough. We've tried Vaseline and that seems to help. Has anyone else tried Vaseline? We were putting it on her arms and legs after her baths, I think it helped a little but honestly we weren't real consistent with it. I am going to make sure I put it on her everyday though and see if it helps, and at least keep her skin mosturized. My son's as well. The doc prescribed a rx lotion but I haven't picked it up yet. He said it will help a little but nothing will make it go away.

Anyway, I was curious as well about the answer to the question of if the kids that get it at an early age wind up having it worse? After reading some of these posts, I feel so bad for my kids and am praying it does not turn into anything worse as they get older. I look forward to talking to everyone that has kids going through the same thing as mine, and everyone else in the forum! Hopefully we can find something to get rid of this!

Heather
