Try switching cow's milk to non dairy milk

The cause of Kp is either food sensitivity(not allergies), or vitamin A or essential fatty acid deficiency.

The most likely offender to your child is dairy, especially milk. Wheat is the next biggest offender.

try changing your child's diet for a month, see what happens, and report to other mothers who are on this forum, share the knowledge as I am.

You should also give your child a childs acidiphilus supplement to replace friendy bacteria in his gut.

I have a thread in general discussion called worst case cured naturally, I suffered horrilbe Kp for 21 years.....I no longer have it due to getting tested and avoiding those foods for a few months.

I have another thread which is test results for food sensitivites, which will tell which posts to go on to read other forum members test results, I have many guinea pigs signed up, so we can pass this message on to others and treat the CAUSE of KP, rather than masking it.

You should see reults in energy and mood pretty quickly, in me it took about two weeks to start seeing a difference in my skin, and a total of 4 months to completely heal.

Your'e child has suffered much less time than me, so you might see results quicker than I did.

I guess I am the sort of person who likes facts to back up statements and I must admit I just googled 'Causes of keratosis pilaris' and the sites all came back saying the root cause is unknown. Sure they know that excess weight and hormones can aggravate it and that winter weather also seems to make it worse but I have never read an official report/article that states that the root cause of KP is ......

I am very keen to learn more about this condition and wonder where you have got the information that you state above. Please don't just say your naturapath told me - there must be something written by a specialist or health professional that substantiates this stand.

I would have thought someone in the health profession would have seen it as a wonderful opportunity to make themselves famous by writing a paper about the root causes of keratosis pilaris. It just seems strange that no-one has done that. Please don't take this as I am trying to get at you - I just want to separate fact from theory.

to Anne

This is not toxic or harmful in any way, all I am suggesting you do is find out what foods or liquids or sensitive to your babies, eliminate them from their diet for a short period of time, and see for yourself.

You want proof?? why do you think I am on this forum? there is nothing on the net written by a western M.D. and guess what there never will be.

If you google leaky gut syndrome or autoimmune diseases, you will see that they mentions skin conditions such as acne, ezcema, and psoriasis, and no, none of them list KP, I can't tell you why they don't, I can only speculate on that.

I have several guinea pigs in the Kp forum, i have 2 KPRF, I want a mother to try this and report results, and I want people that have the rarer conditions such as UO to try this as well, and report back results.

People on this forum are having a hard time with this information, maybe because the solution is too simple? because it was a N.D. instead of an M.D.?

What M.D. has helped any of us?

My GP gave me accutane for my KP......ya thanks.

Anne you have been a member for a very long time, you have seen it all I am sure, Rachel18 from Australia had the same results as I did doing the same thing. she had a thread on autointoxication and recently wrote on my other thread, she is Kp free as well.

In the next few months the results posted from other forum members will be the undeniable proof. Hopefully that will be enough proof for you.

ohiomom

every one is different when it comes to food sensititiviites, however, everyone tested has a senititvity to cow milk and most dairy.

We do not have the enzyme to digest cow milk, when I say we, I mean KP'ers.

Soy milk can be an alternative, but some people are sensitive to soy too. There is also rice milk.

If you try soy but don't see an improvement in two weeks, try rice milk. Both are fortified with vitamins and minerals, just like cow milk. Read the labels.

Wheat and gluten is also a big aggrivator to KP, so watch out for those as well.

If you do this, and it works for your child, would you mind posting your results?

Someone on this forum needs to try and post so other mothers will have this information.

I encourage you to look at post #269 of worst case cured naturally in general discussions.

There is link to a book by a doctor who talks about everything I have been saying about food senitivites casuing skin conditions.

Look at the before and after photos of real cases of children who have healed entirely by their diet, it is shocking to say the least.

This book was written for people with psoriasis, but people with acne, ezcema, KP have the same causes for flare ups.......food.....

This doctor claims that leaky gut syndrome is the real cause of your skin flare ups ( I had this for 20 years and didn't know it) and food senstitivities are what fuel your skin problems.

If you have more than 12 sensitivies and a candida yeast score over 10, you more than likely have LGS, and need to heal your gut in order to enjoy a full healing of your skin.

My doctor says many babies are born with LGS, so this is not just something adults/teenagers have to deal with.

Good luck to you all....

look at post #275 to get an idea of someone who just got a vega test today, the results are amazing and a bit shocking.

This member is 22 years old, lives in England, and has had Kp for 3 years. She has signed up to be a guinea pig and post results in the next few months.

Milk is for babies...it comes from breasts...cows only produce milk for their babies which are taken away from them after they are born and sold to the veal industry (if male) or pumped full of steroids so they can become a "dairy cow" also (if female)and then the mother is impregnated again and again until she is near death and is taken off to slaughter ...after we grow our bodies can not digest breast milk (and can never digest milk from another species)therefor the best choice is soy milk...that goes for cheeses and other dairy products as well. I have KP and I know dairy isn't the main cause however I feel mine would be much worse if I still consumed dairy. (FACT: COWS HAVE TO BE PREGNANT TO PRODUCE MILK...THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A COW THAT PRODUCES MILK FOR HUMANS, ITS FOR THEIR BABIES...WE ARE THE ONLY SPECIES THAT DRINKS ANOTHERS BREAST MILK...that should be all the fact you need to go by)

My suggestion to not drinks cows milk is for health/skin reasons, rather than a moral question.

I respect your decision to be a vegan, that is why I suggest you test as i suspect you are sensitive to soy products and possibly most nuts, that is probably why you get your KP. Let us know if you test, it should be very interesting.

That will suck

If I have a sensitivity to soy or nuts that's going to really suck! lol I even read that you can have sensitivities to fruits and vegetables... I don't know what I would eat!!! I am willing to do almost anything to get rid of my condition...however I don't think I would ever go back to dairy and 100% sure I would never eat meat...I am going to look into that test and see if I can afford it...I'll keep you posted

I have to say that when I stopped eating dairy I noticed a huge difference though...I had fewer bumps and less much less irritation, I assume that this was directly related because I use to eat a lot of cheese!

I must also add that I am a mom and breast fed...she just turned one and is drinking soy milk happily now...I know it may be hard to break away from dairy especially if you have children, but dairy is linked directly to so many conditions such as skin problems (milk actually is puss ) , heart disease, obesity and even ADD.

vegan girl.

Don't worry too much because nuts clear pretty quickly and you can go back to eating them, might be the same for soy too.

The veggies and fruits that are COMMON are potatoes, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, strawberries, grapes, grapefruit, pineappple
Are you eating Wheat and corn?.......those are also very common in KP sufferers
