What's worked for your kids?
My almost 3 year old son has KP. He was diagnosed in october, and since then we've cut out all fragranced bath products (except shampoo, since I've yet to find a fragrance free version that controls his unruly hair), only bathe every 2-3 days, we use amlactin lotion before bed and when his skin gets really bad, we use verdeso (steriod foam). But he still has red bumps all over his body. The verdeso helps, but since it's a steriod, we're not supposed to use it all the time. He frequently scratches the KP too, so he's scabby a lot as well.
I got some samples of KP Duty, and it might have helped, but it's hard to know from the tiny samples we got. I was going to buy a tube and see how that worked, but before I shell out $36 for lotion, I thought I'd see if anything else might be useful. (I did notice that his skin was much softer and better moisturized with the few days we used the KP Duty.) Any suggestions? |

Our 4 year old boy had mild KP on his arms. I'm a Pharmacist, so I developed a recipe containing lactic acid/sodium lactate and vitamins A, C & E in an avocado oil cream base. I am pleased to say that the cream cleared up his kp in less than a week, and it hasn't come back.
It is a very good moisturizer as well, so perhaps it might help your son? I could send you a sample to try if you would like. Annuu ![]() Last edited by Elsa Zoe; 10-15-2007 at 05:03 PM. |

moisturizer By Anuu
Hai Anuu,
I would really appreciate if you could explain how to make this moisturizer. My daughter had KP which is also called chicken skin on her arms and face .She is 13 and she is not happy about it.We had consulted a dermatologist and he has given a amlactin plus cream .But if your cream can be made at home what are the things i have to buy? Thanks Mandy |

Hi Mandy:
I developed and made the cream (called Lacteem) here at home. Sounds simple, however it is made from the specialised ingredents that formulators/manufacturers use: refined avocado oil, AHAs, buffered AHA, emulsifiers, thickeners, nonparabens preservative, pure vitamins. Unfortunately these ingredients are not readily available, so it will be rather difficult to make it yourself. Sorry about that! Because Lacteem worked so well for our son's kp, and does not contain any nasty steroids, I would be interested to know if it also helps other children. If any parents would like to contact me, I would be pleased to send out some trial quantities of Lacteem (I have 10 x 50gram jars available). The only thing I would ask is for your feedback on the cream. Thanks! Kind regards, Annuu ![]() Last edited by Elsa Zoe; 10-15-2007 at 05:00 PM. |

Hi Annuu
We would love to try your Lacteem cream. My niece (who is seven) suffers with kp and is very self conscious about it (as her little friends often comment that hers skin feels funny) and we have tried a number of things. We would be happy to provide you with any feed back. I am also happy to pay any postage costs. Could you please email me. Helen Last edited by Elsa Zoe; 10-15-2007 at 05:01 PM. |

annuu...is there a way I can try your cream? my daughter is 8 1/2 yrs old and we fillany after 3 years found out what was on her back and arms. I have tried the creams for the KP when she is itchy, we have changed soap and I am going to take her off of milk to see if that will work.

Thanks to the folks who have written in, asking to participate in the trial of Lacteem.
All of the samples are now gone. It will be interesting to see how Lacteem goes in this trial. Kind regards, Annuu ![]() |
