Red face vitamins and KP

Hi! My children, 11 and 8, were just diagnosed with KP and I was given a body wash and 6% salicylic acid lotion for them to use. I was just wondering if anyone knows if certain vitamins or supplements might be helpful in treating KP - something like fish oil or flaxseed oil? Any info would be helpful.

yes, do the flaxseed oil and cod liver oil thing and add beta carotene to it ( i believe from my research and experience that vita a regulates the body's keratin production) it has helped me a lot..thank God. Start them out on a low dose ...maybe even don't start with vitamins but if you can get them to like carrot juice....give them a glass a day and be consistent....start with like half a glass and ease into it so the body adjusts,,,carrot juice is all beta carotene. Beta carotene is a type of vita a (the long-term safer kind).

good luck...please let me know!

Vitamin A is fat soluble therefore it is toxic at high levels. Cod Liver oil is an extremely potent source of vitamin A. So please be careful and research the amount of Vit A recommended for children. I have found Flax seed and Fish oil (not from the liver) very effective in treating my KP. I like the liquid form (as opposed to the capsule kind) because it’s more bang for your buck. Just make sure the fish oil is Pharmaceutical grade (free of mercury and other bad stuff).

Thank you both for your input! I went out and bought some carrot juice, so I guess we'll start there. Not sure how the fish oil thing will work out because I don't think my kids can swallow the capsules but I wasn't aware that there was a liquid form. I was thinking along the lines of flaxseed oil or fish oil - not cod liver oil but thank you for the information regarding it anyway. l It's good to know. I will look for the liquid next time and see how that works too. Hopefully, a combination of everything will work!
