I know that I should not feel so bad about something so superficial but I can't help it. My daughter is in second grade this year...she has had KP mostly on her face since she was 2yrs. old. Today she said that a boy in her class said "Ew why do you have all those pimples on your face" This isn't the first time another child has said something like this and it breaks my heart. She asks me why she can't have soft skin like her sister. It is especially bad over her upper lip...she calls it a mustache. I've tried Des-owen and cetaphil and many other products but the bumps don't go away and are red especially at this time of year. Has anyone had success with any other type of products? I would appreciate any advice you could give me. thanks!

I am so sorry to hear about that unkind comment -- it is heartbroken seeing your child go through something like that.
If it makes you feel any better, I've found with my own girls that I get (and stay) more hurt over such comments than they do! Kids can be amazingly resilient and forgiving.Stay away from Cetaphil. They changed the formula a few years ago, and the fact that the company hasn't made this information widely available is unforgivable. A much better bet would be Purpose facial wash (made by Johnson & Johnson). If the Purpose doesn't work well, try Neutrogena. I wash my daughter's face with Purpose and a washcloth every morning and evening, then apply Lac-Hydrin 12% afterwards. It seems to be working very well. Putting a humidifer (warm mist) in her bedroom has also been beneficial. This site is a Godsend for people whose kids have KP. |

Thank you so much for your advice...it's nice to know someone who understands what this is like. I'm going to try the lac-hydrin
