Hello, my name is Jennifer, and my daughter is Jazmin. About a year ago I went to the pediatrician to find out why my baby was getting and keeping bumps on her arms, legs, and face. The dr said to use hydrocortizone over the counter on it. It did not help at all, so I quit using it.
I started asking the doctor to send us to a dermatologist, and she informed me that there were no derm dr's in my area that accepted my insurance. I called (and called and called) the insurance company to get outside network approval for us to see a dermatologist, and after approximately 4 months, and 10 - 1 hour plus phone calls, we were able to see not just one, but 2!
The first derm dr said use this cream for atopic dermatitis called atropiclair and take antibiotic for the infected bumps. It cost me $107.99 because it was not covered under insurance, and I didnt notice any difference except for the redness infection was gone.
Second dermatologist recommended a product called Glytone
KP kit. It has a body was and lotion and comes with a puff. I paid $53.99 for this, and I hope it works. I just got it yesterday, so wish me luck!
What is up with all these lotions and treatments costing so much? I'm a single mother, work part time, and my daughter is on medicaid for insurance. I am looking for any advice, direction, or words of encouragement for my daughter's condition, that I see so many of you share.
Jenny, mommy of Jazmin
