KP ONLY after pregnancy???
Hello everyone! My name is Joy, I'm a mother of 2 and new to the forum.
Anyways, I was just recently told by an Aesthetic Technician that I have KP. I've read everything I could about KP symptoms which mostly begin anywhere from childhood to adolescence. However, I've NEVER had this skin condition on the back of my upper arms until my first pregnancy in 2004 ( I am also 23 years old). Again, until that time I've never had this in my entire life! My left arm isn't bad but my right arm seems to have more red bumps..Is there anyone else who has experienced this condition ONLY after having their baby?? ALSO, none of my children show any signs of having KP.. |

Hi!
I have mentioned this on other forums, but I started using a progesterone creme on the backs of my arms about a month and a 1/2 ago. Within 3 weeks the bumps were gone. I then passed the creme on to my brother and his bumps are gone as well. Something to think about. There is some suggestion throughout this website that there is a connection between hormones and kp - which would explain your kp after pregnancy. |

I got mine through Arbonne. WWW.ARBONNE.COM You need to have a consultant get it for you, they won't let you order it without one. If you don't know an Arbonne consultant the website helps you find one. I am a consultant in Nebraska and I would be happy to help you get it. I give my customers the %35 percent discount that I get, so keep that in mind when you find one, because I don't think they all give it. It's about $30 retail. I just tried it on the top right side of the page it has a tab that says locate a consultant then fill out the info on the right side to get one in your area!!! I'd love to hear how it goes...

I'm sorry it's called Prolief, depending on your situation (if your pregnant or nursing) that would depend on which one you would get. There is also Phyto prolief which is okay if you are not pregnant or nursing.

I had very slight KP all my life. Not enough to bother me, just a couple of bumps on my arms. After I had my daughter in 03, my arms, thighs, buttocks, and stomach have it. I am totally embarassed and don't like to wear short sleeves and most definately won't wear a swimsuit and sometimes not even shorts. I have been to the dermatologist once a year since 03, and always hear that I just need to live with it. I am going back to the dermatologist soon, and can only hope there's some new breakthrough.
I am also curious if it could be horomone changes that causes it. Prior to pregnancy and giving birth, I had been on the pill for years. I wonder if the horomone changes from going off the pill was the cause? I am in the process of going back on the pill to regulate my cycle, so I am crossing my fingers that it may help my skin. Especially with summer coming. |

Dear KariJ,
I am starting to see a running theme with the KP. A lot of women have come back with the same comments that after pregnancy or nursing or something in that line, their KP has made an appearance or got worse. Check with your doctor about the progesterone creme, I would be interested what the physicians are saying about it. My results are unmistakeable and they can not be from any other cause, as I do nothing else for my arms other than the progesterone creme. I am still nursing so the hormone thing hasn't changed. Even medical personell who hav responded to threads have concurred that hormones are playing a role in KP. |

objective opinion???
Hi,
I am new to this forum... my 2-yr-old son and I both have KP. His is severe, mine is barely noticable. I am obviously interested in others' successes. Since the woman posting in this thread is a rep for the product she is suggesting, I am not sure I trust that it really works. I don't want to waste money, as many KP sufferers have. Any other thoughts on this? |

Britta,
I understand your thoughts but I will tell you that I did much reading on this subject and what I learned is that it is progesterone cream that is what works. It is not necessarily Arbonne's progesterone cream. I have only suggested that you can get it through Arbonne, but there are many outlets for getting it as long as it is a natural source of progesterone. Unfortunately you could not use something like that on your little guy anyway. I was really excited when my KP went away that is why I shared what happened. It was a fluke - it certainly is not something Arbonne even suggests will work. I found the information from a doctor named Dr. John Lee. That is why I decided to try it. Good Luck! |

I had acne as a child, but never anything like this until my son was around 6 months old. I had a few dry patches here and there on my legs right above my knees by my arms were always smooth and pretty, My arms didn't happen until one day when I stupidly used nair instead of shaving. I have had this since then. I'm trying some of the other treatments recommended in the forum right now, but if progesterone works please let me know. I'm sure I can get a prescrip. if need be.

Just had a baby
I too just had a baby and have self diagnosed myself with KP. I am miserable. When I had my last son I got it too but not as bad now I have it really bad and would love to know the fastest way to get rid of it. My doctor here has said don't worry about it it will go away maybe and gave me some Claritin but it has done nothing to help. I have scrubbed my arms raw and put some lotion on them but nothing seems to help and it seems to be spreading now down to my lower arms.
I am feeling less alone since finding this forum. Now I know at least I can talk to others that have the same problem. This cream people are talking about Progestrone is it something you can get from a doctor? |

Im new to this site and relieved to hear that my problem is a common thing. What are some things I can do to get rid of the red bumps on my arms? Im still nursing and my dermatologist says theres nothing I can do while Im nursing. This is my second child and this condition didnt appear until I was pregnant with my second child.

KP after pregnancy questions
Just a thought, since this seems to appear because of hair follicles being blocked, has anyone tried laser hair removal? If there is no hair follicle to get blocked, then wouldnt the condition disappear???
Also another question, since I see some of you are trying progesterone creams, would you get the same effect with taking a progesterone only birth control pill?? I apologize if I sound naive about this, I am just now learning what this condition is. Thank you. ![]() |

Ok i have been really intrigued by this subject. I just wanted to calrify a few things. If you are taking progesterone that means you are estrogen dominant right? Therefore taking progestorone will increase levels of progesterone therefore balancing the estrogen to progestorone ratio. Estrogen dominance can be very common due to a lot of factors such as the oral contraceptive pill, poor diet etc. And symptoms of oestrogen dominance include; irregular menstrual cycles, spotting, PMS, mood swings, weight gain and breast tenderness which are the main estrogen dominant symptoms. I think its important to determine and pick out the deficiency symptoms so everyone can decide if this is the cause of their KP or if it is something else therefore preventing money wasting on certain products.
However it could be a main factor with pregnant women and after pregnancy because progesterone during the 9 months of pregnancy is very high which confuses me as to why some women have their kp go completely out of control during the pregnancy. Which leads me to believe it may not be the deficiency of progesterone during this time thats causing the KP but a vitamin/mineral deficiency instead. BUT after pregnancy progesterone levels are VERY LOW which explains a lot of women's case where their KP just began/got worse after they gave birth. Like in KariJ's case. Anyway i just wanted 2 clarify a few things. For me personally i do not think i have a hormonal imbalance since im 20 years old, im not on the OCP and i have absolutely none of the signs above, my periods come every 28 days and they are asymptomatic. Which is why im looking at other causes instead of this one. |
