Hi im new here and my 3 year old daughter was just diagnosed with kp today
She has it all over the back of her arms and on the front of her thighs. I was just looking for advice on how to clean or scrub her kp with out hurting her And any good soap that i can use to keep her moist. The doctor gave a perscription of amlactin xl i was wondering if anyone has used this and if it really works. Thanks,Chrissy |

My two year old daughter has kp on her cheeks and some on her arms. When I give her a bath, I use huggies wash with shea butter. After I get her out of the tub and pat her dry, I spray Johnson & Johnson baby oil mist all over her (cant spray the stuff on your face, put some on your hand and apply to face). I really like the spray and it seems to be improving the kp. If My daughters face is really acting up, I like to use A&D ointment. The best time to apply these thick creams is right before bed or a nap. I wouldnt use anything harsh or even try to exfoiliate because their skin is so delicate and sensitive. Good Luck

When I was a child, Neutrogena's transparent bar soap got rid of my KP completely in 2 weeks - the derm told my mom to have me use that for the KP.

Make sure that when you bathe your child that you do NOT use scented bubble bath at all. Our dermy has informed us that bubble baths are like poison to their already delicate skin. So at 2 yrs. old Cody now takes showers like his older brothers. He has a ball, like being in the rain he says. Best of luck, we all need it! God Bless!

I have been using baby soap as bubble bath. But i will cut that out and see what happens It looks like it will not be going away any time soon It has not getting better at all. I have tried the neutrogena bar and the johnsons oil. No luck yet. Chrissy |

No Baby Oil!!! Please!!
DON'T USE BABY OIL!!! It's mineral oil, which the World Health Organization has listed as a known carcinogen! Also, the molecules are too large to be absorbed into our pores and will sit on the surface like soap scum, trapping in impurities and toxins. Try putting a saltine cracker in mineral oil and another in water. After the water one begins to break down, take the oil one out and tap it on the table. Still crisp, isn't it? That's because the molecules are too large for even a cracker to absorb. Avoid any and all products with mineral oil (98% of toiletries and cosmetics in the US) or petro products (including stearic acid and petroleum). Now that you've thrown everything in your cabinets out, email me at allisonsullivan@insightbb.com for my before and after pics from using Arbonne products. |
