Hi, cody's mom and Jacobs Mom,

I have been a bit slack in trying new things on my son who is now 3 years old. I am getting a little confused about what products moisturise and what products exfoliate. Can you tell me what you have found to be the good moisturisers and what are the good exfoliators.

I am considering excluding dairy products to see if this helps. My son does have a lot of them. It does seem like it is going to be quite a task to keep him off all of the things he loves. Did you exclude everything dairy, eg cheese, butter/marg, milk, yogurt and lots more?

My sons KP on his arms and thighs is very bad at the moment, very pimply, probably the worst it has ever been. His face is still slightly effected by it.

Jacobs Mom, have you tried changing the diet of your son.

Thanks Lisa

Colin's Mom,

Our dermy has also told us that KP is genetic, but we thought that before we seen the doc. I didn't know that's what I have on my arms until we seen the dermy. Then I found out that my mother and grand mother both have the same appearance on their upper arms as well. I am curious though about the food allergies. How do I go about finding a good holistic md?

Hello all!
I'm a new member and as many of you have written, my daughter is 16 months old and has had bumps on her legs and arms for as long as I can remember. She also gets the little pimple-like break-outs on her cheeks, especially when teething. Our pediatrician just kept saying it must be excema and prescribed the steriod cream that didn't help and suggested some lotions that were of no use, then he just dismissed it. When I kept asking about it, he referred us to the dermatologist. Anyway, we are currently trying to figure out what will work best for Kaitlyn, but one thing I noticed in the summer that I wanted to share was that after we took her in chlorinated water at a water park, her skin cleared up for the few days following! I have no idea if that was the reason but it definitely was a coincidence! I'm glad I found this chat room because I too was upset at the thought of my daughter having to deal with a skin issue for probably the rest of her life and the doctor not thinking that much of it. Thanks for all of your ideas!

KP and food allergy

In early October some of you Moms were discussing food allergies manifesting themselves as KP. If any of you have eliminated suspect foods from your child's diet, what were the results?

My 3-year old daughter recently had her tonsils and adnoids removed. She had it pretty tough, and only drank juice for about a week. Her KP nearly cleared up. I started wondering if it was caused by something she was eating - since dairy and peanuts are considered allergens (and things she routinely eats), I was going to try eliminating one and then the other to see what happens.

An allergy makes sense to me. The medical community claims its hereditary - so are food allergies. Some people outgrow it - some people outgrow food allergies. I truly believe there is a reason for it, and it's only a matter of time before it is discovered. Most likely by a concerned group such as this!

I'm really happy to see this kind of website. I'm a new member and have had kp since I can remember. I just never new what my skin condition was called until just last year. Now I found this website and I'm relieved that other people other than me, have this condition. It's funny, I've checked out other peoples arms and legs in the summer time just looking to see if anyone had what I have had. I didn't find anyone, go figure. Anyways, to make a long story short, I've had this all my life, I hate it, but I'm dealing with it. Now I have 3 boys, and dealing with 2 of them having it. It just plan old sucks that they got this from me. I got it from my mother. Low and behold the family gene in strong force. I don't know if anyone has tried the Gold Bond Ultimate Healing lotion, but I have tried it on myself and my boys, it seems to help a bit more than vasoline products. Plus, it doesn't feel greasy and smells fresh. It does cost a little less than $10. I found it for like $8 at Walmart. It's in the regular lotion asle. It seems to work. I haven't tried exfoliants on the boys or a loofa. I'm a bit scared that it might irritate their skin.

Lightbulb Try Curel's New "Ultra Healing" lotion

Hello. I have a 4 1/2 yr old girl with KP on her legs, mainly. I thought nothing would help her, but then I tried the Curel Ultra Healing lotion. It's new and it's in a pearl light blue container. I saw immediate results when I put it on her. It's now been 2 weeks, and I've been putting it on her before getting her dressed in the morning, and before getting her pj's on at night. What a difference! I still can't believe those horrible bumps are fading. Try it. I really hope you find the success with it that we have. (God, I sound like a commercial- -but I swear, I'm not affiliated with the Curel people!). I just know how much, as a Mommy, I've worried about her condition, and how as she grows older that kids will tease her. I feel like this stuff may take away those worries for good. Anyway, good luck!
Lori

Something to think about...

I also went to a homeopath that said I must put my son on soya milk, it did not improve at all, i have looked up so many things and all I know is that it IS NOT curable, at least not through diet I have tried it the only thing is a scrub but once you stop it comes right back again Is there anyone out there that actually have a 100% cure as I would love to fix my sons face

No one has a 100% definite answer that works every single time, or the doc's would just prescribe it right away and be done with it. However, I do know of Arbonne's ABC line that has worked for my daughter, another forum member's daughter, and 4 of my other mom friends' children (1 of them had eczema, too, and now that's gone). It consists of a wash, lotion, oil, sunscreen, and diaper rash cream. There's a free gift included for mom, too. You don't have to use all of those products, though. I saw results with just the wash and sunscreen. Another member used the oil on her daughter and got some results. It'll depend on the severity of your child's KP as well as the type.
You can order it online at www.arbonne.com, but you have to have a consultant. If you don't have one already, you can use me, #16032446. Just click on "shop online", select your product, and a screen will come up asking for your client ID. click on New client registration and enter my #, and your info. Then you can continue shopping.
Please let us know how it goes, I'd love to add you to the list of success stories! And good luck!

Because most grocery-store variety sunscreens contain mineral oil, which is bad. It clogs pores, is listed as a carcinogen, and dries out skin. You don't have to buy Arbonne, just try to get something that is mineral oil free.

Quick ?

Are most of your children Caucasian? My daughter is Hispanic, and the bumps seem to be getting worse. She doesn't have much redness. I guess because her skin is dark. I'm about to take her to a dermatologist, but I wanted some advice first.... found this website today. Thank you for any advice. I've been using Bath & Body's Mega Butter, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Hello!
I just wanted to tell you to make sure that the B&B stuff you are using doesn't contain any mineral oil. Many of their lotions do, and mineral oil is pore clogging & could make matter worse.
As far as advise goes, I can't help you much because my family is caucasian. Sorry!
I do hope you have better luck at the Dermatologist's than most of us have.
