Bumps on cheeks

My 9 year old has keratosis on her cheeks and we haven't found anything that seems to work well to reduce the bumps. Does anyone know of anything safe for childrens faces that actually helps reduce the bumps?

I would try LacHydrin 5 lotion. It is available over the counter at drugstores (or online) and is a gentler version of the prescription 12% lotion. I have read before that it is safe for children's faces, although I would talk to your pediatrician just to be sure. You can also try using a good, non-irritating moisturizer such as Aveeno or fragrance free Curel or Cetaphil lotion. Definitely stay away from anything irritating, like salicylic acid or glycolic acid, or fragranced products. These can cause redness and inflamation on the affected areas. (trust me, I've learned that from hard experience!)

We are using the generic form of AmLactin12%. The name brand for some reason was more irritating to my daughter (1 year old). We started out using it twice a day at the recommendation of a pediatric dermatologist, but now I'm only using it once a day (actually at night) and I use a heavy moisturizer in the a.m. and afternoon each day besides. She still has bumps, but after about a week to 10 days of not using the prescription, she had way more. It also seems to reduce the really noticable bumps that look like whiteheads. Not a perfect solution yet, but it's something. Apparently AmLactin is available over the counter too - but our cream is Ammonium Lactate Creat and says Rx only on the lable. It's mfg is Clay-Park labs.
