new member-with ? about baby daughter

hi everyone, my name is kelly, and i am 27yo with an 11mo daughter. i have had kp for as long as i can remember and it has caused me GREAT embarrasment all my life. it has gotten out of control after giving birth - and i am looking for some help - so i was SO happy to find this site. my question is, for all of you w/children who have it, at what age did they show signs? my daughter has one little rough patch of skin on her upper arm, and i am so worried that this is the start of it. i don't want her to go thru life embarrassed as i have! if anyone has any suggestions for me or advice, i would appreciate it. not a single doctor all my life has helped me - and i of course want better for my beautiful girl. thanks in advance, kelly

My son's started at 11 months and really it can start at any age and varying degrees. My older son also has it and his began around 1 1/2. If it is kp it sounds very minor so take heart in that but I know it is hard as a mom. For now all she needs is a good creme moisturizer (Eucerin, Cetaphil, and others like that) and wash with gentle wash. Good luck.

Like you I have had kp as long as I can remember. So imagine my dismay when I noticed that my sons inherted this condition. I noticed that my boys began to show signs on thier cheeks and arms at about 12-14 months. What seems to work now had been using Dove Gentle exfoliating soap (liquid) with a loofah sponge, after bath we all use Cetaphil lotion. In my opinion, these is the least "greasy". Besides this is more cost effective than those otc products that doctors like to recommend. FYI I am a type II diabetic, and ever since I began watching my carbs and dairy intake the kp has cleared somewhat.
