Sweating - I think it helps!!!!!

I've read up a few things and a climate with low-humidty seems to be a factor in developing KP, as a few people have posted on the board that when they moved to another region they developed it...so..and my theory could be very shaky here! but when people say weight loss helps their KP could it be more the fact that by exercising you were generating body heat and sweating - which one would do in a more humid climate - than the actual loss of body fat. This would explain why why thin people still get KP, they might naturally be thin and not exerting themselves enough.Would also explain why someone else in this thread found sauna's helped them.In humid countries you wear less clothing and sweat alot more which may keep the pores clearer as the clothing isn't stopping the sweat from escaping and blocking the pores & sweating opens up your pores and clears them anyway. My KP is practically non-existent after a few weeks sweating it out on holidays or if I embark on lots of exercise - perhaps improving your overall blood circulation and getting sweaty helps!anyone have any thoughts? |

From what I know KP is caused by the bodys inability to exfoliate properly - causeing cells to clog the follicle. KP gets better in areas/climates with high humidity because KP is exasterbated bt dry skin & high humidity helps to keep the skin hydrated. Sweating helps KP because it opens & helps flush out the pore. I don't gaining or losing weight is a factor. I am thin, always have been & have always had KP. I exercise & still have it. |

I have been told by my doctor that moving to a humid climate would probably help. (i live in Canada) but i'm surprised at your statement that after a few weeks sweating it on holiday, that your keratosis is practically gone. it is very hot and humid during the summer months here and i sweat a lot and i've never noticed a difference from winter to summer. i guess it depends on the degree of severity? mine is quite severe and i've hat it since birth. |
