I have just found out about this finally, it is a relief to know atleast what it is, but saddens that there is no cure. I was put on stong antibiotic, hydri something lotion and was told to use the buff puff and take vitamin A. I was reading down thru some of the other messages and wanted to ask again, about shaving, would it be better if I started someother way of getting rid of the hairs on my legs, ie..wax,nair, etc..or does the shaving help by opening the follicles up any??? thanks for any advice!

In my case I think shaving has helped with the KP on my lower legs. Shaving is a method of exfoliating & I shave my lower legs almost everyday & have noticed over the years that KP is almost gone (on lower legs). I think it depends on how bad the KP is and how sensitive your skin is.

well, i am really considering using nair on my arms so that way i can hopefully prevent the spread of KP. The pores wont clog if there is no hair folicle right? I dont know if it will work though. I did shave a tiny spot on my arm to see what would happen. The bumps are gone on that spot and its no longer red so..... mabey it will work? Has anyone tried this??? If i do decide to take off the hair on my arms, i'm gonna use Nair so the shaving wont scar

Nair will only remove the hair at the surface (like shaving does) - waxing could cause the root to grow stronger & does nothing to the follicle. I had electrolysis & was told this info. I think the hair that is causing the bumps is trapped by skin cells & is under he skin.

What about waxing your arm? Would that work since it pulls the hair out by the root?

Yvette- it will just be a waste of time. I used to shave my uppper arms and use Nair. If it did work it was only for a few days, if that. However, if you really want to do it, I recommend shaving instead of Nair. My skin had a better reaction.

I have never waxed my arms or legs but have waxed other areas and I personally would not recommend it since waxing caused me to get a lot of ingrown hairs which doesn't look any better than KP
