New girl's perspective

Ok, I just posted an extremely long, detailed letter but my computer conked out on me before I had a chance to send it. Here we go again. I am 31 years old and have had this condition my whole life. I have quite a severe case of it, it pretty much completely covers my arms and legs and a little bit of my backside. Sucks. Anyway, I only started seaking treatment a few months ago. I had been to a couple of dermatologists who told me it wasn't curable or treatable and sent me on my way. Everything I know about this affliction I found out on my own through the web. Getting right to the point, what I use now is an ointment called Diprosalic. It is a prescription only(unless you live in Mexico) topical ointment usually used for those who suffer from exzema(sp?). It is also referred to as a Steroid cream although I can't quite make the connection. Anyway, I first used Tendsking, then a 10% cortizone cream for a few weeks and then switched to this a few days ago. I have a twin sister with the same thing and she has been using it for almost a month. It starts to work within a couple of days and it does wonders for both the redness and the bumps/roughness. I use it two times a day and hope to reduce that to a few times a week eventually. As with any topical ointment it is not recommended for long term use but I think I'm willing to take that chance until something better comes along. The girl who first told me about it had been using it for years with no visible side affects. My sister's doctor also did not see a problem with long term use. It is a strong anti-inflammatory but it's not THAT strong. Do as you see fit. A couple of warnings though, it's consistency is almost identical to that of Neosporin and it takes A LONG TIME to dry. At least a couple of hours. As well, I have been told if you decide to stop using it it will not only come back but it will do so with a vengeance so if you decide to try it it might be a life long commitment. I use this with a 20%urea creme which you can get off the shelf or a cream called NeoCeutical Xtra strong wich I ordered off the web. Again, there are probably tons of different creams out there that will provide some relief. This is just the one that I have found through the help of another. Good luck. Lex.
