But please understand that losing weight is not a quick process! Is it ok for me to be here searching for a way to clear up my kp while I lose weight? I do not know if losing weight is the answer and I NEVER claimed that it was, I said it could be a factor and while I lose weight I will continue to find more options not just to help myself but to help everyone on this board

Thank you VERY much for recognizing the possibility of different triggers for various subsets of KP sufferers. And--for those of us whose KP DOES appear to be weight-sensitive--we're not going to get thin overnight. I'm still looking for ways to control my symptoms so that I can feel better about wearing short sleeves during the long, hot summer. I'm sure that's a concern we can all agree on.

I don't think it is so much a weight thing, it's more about health. I am not overweight and never have been. However, I am a college student and do not get to have nice healthy meals. I try to eat right but usually am on the run. Like I said I am not overweight and never have been. But I have had KP since I was 7 now I am 20. Before the age of seven my parents raised me as a vegetarian. I was very healthy and very active. Once I got into high school that was when my KP got worse. I wasn't eating healthy as I should of, but still kept active. Now I am not active and don't eat that often, and am not overweight. Overall, I believe that you can be 100 or 250 pounds and still have KP. It's all about what you eat.

I'm not buying it. Plenty of thin people have KP-I'm one of them. But I don't excerise.

Maybe excerise/sweating is a factor?

Please stop making ignorant comments- fat people are not more prone to KP!

Re: Weight seems to exagerate my condition

I too did not have a problem with KP until after my second child, age 31. I too had gained 60 pounds...and with it seemed to come KP. Unfortunately, I thought it was hormonal due to the pregnancy and did not get diagnosed by a dermatologist until almost a year later...after it had had a chance to scar and worsen.

I am now 35, have since lost the weight and my KP is better, but still not under control. I also suffer from very oily skin and moderate acne on my face and upper back and chest so the dry skin theory doesn't relate to my situation. Anyone else have this combined problem?

I am currently taking oral Erythromycin for my acne and using a combination of cortisone and antibiotic creams on my arms daily which helps immensly. Even when the KP and Acne are under some control, I battle the redness and scars. I rarely go out without makeup.

AND, my two boys, ages 3 and 11 have a mild version of KP already!
