Laser & Microdermabrasion options

I'm scheduled to see my dermatologist Monday for a follow up on the 3 mo tazorac treatment he put me on. I quit it after 3 weeks because it gives me chemical burn. I will discuss with him newer/advanced laser treatment and microdermabrasion options. Everywhere I've read except from one dermatological site suggests destroying the hair follicle with a laser will prevent KP and hair from appearing in that region. White hairs may require elecrolysis since they won't absorb the light from the laser. I'm not sure removing the hair itself will work but perhaps destroying the follicle with it will(if that's possible to do). I do not know what this will do for the red spots embedded in the skin. In fact I'm not really sure what those are. Foreign substances(i.e. hair, dead skin trapped under the skin within the follicle)! I don't have the bumps like alot of people mention, just spots(like a tattoo). I think laser treatments will also lighten the color of your skin thus reducing the appearance of scars or spots. I'll also discuss microdermabrasion with him as well. If he's willing to try this route with me then I'll do it on a test spot(i.e. bottom) before doing the rest of me. I don't have KP all over my body but if it continues to spread at the rate it's spread in the last 4 yrs I'll be there in 5 or 10. There's only two dermatologists in Topeka and I hope they will suggest this. I don't like my dermatologist because he doesn't seem to give a ****. What's funny is he has a mild case of it himself, but like I say, he doesn't give a ****. He used that as a reasoning for me to not be so worried about mine. But mine is worse than his. I may have to go to Kansas City or Wichita and see some specialist. This may require a Dr. referral or I simply pursue it on my own. Thankfully I've not used any vacation time. These treatments will probably require multiple sessions over a span of several months. Also I don't know if my insurance will cover it(because it's cosmetic) but if this shows signs that it's gonna work I'll take out a freakin loan large enough to buy a house if I have to. My pessimistic thinking is that if these procedures really worked derms all over would be suggesting these treatments so I don't know if they're really that effective. I pray there's a solution to this problem. I have good days & I have bad days. Keeping busy helps but there's not a day goes by I don't think about it or notice it when I'm bathing. This site is a help! Thanks to all of you! |

Hi Jm, I can't wait to hear how it goes for you! I'm calling my derm tomorrow and plan on telling him that I've spent 12 years of my life as a guinea pig with acne treatments and do will not try a million kp treatments. I am fed up. . .and that I want some kind of laser or peel treatment immediately. I won't waste my time with all these damn lotions that everyone says do not work. I don't care how much it costs. In about 8 months my began and spread all over my arms and legs and now on my stomach!!!!!!! I am so sick of this ****. Why can't I be allowed to be beautiful? I really hope the laser works for us |
