Tazorac eats up my KP

Just posted my results a few days ago and I don't think anyone read it (maybe cause my subject line was not eye catching). Anyways I use Tazorac and Aveeno and it really helps mine. I have been using it since October. I only use it like once or twice a week now but I try and put Aveeno on everyday. I have seen alot of improvement in my skin. I just gave birth to my second daughter in July and my KP was bad by Oct. anyways much better now try Tazorac (Rx) if you are stressing. I have KP on my upper arms all around, a little on my forarms, the back of my calves, upper shin by my knees, my thighs inside and outside front, my hips, buttocks, jawline, under chin, and sometimes forehead.

I don't use Tazorac, but Aveeno is part of my routine and I agree, it helps a great deal! It is great for itching, if you have any, but it also does a good job of moisturizing. I use nylon shower gloves and they can leave my skin itching when i first get out of the shower. The Aveeno stops the itch right away!

I read your post the other day! I'm always interested in hearing about other people's experiences with Tazorac. I used it for a short while but stopped because I wanted to try to have a baby. Women must use birth control while using it. First, I applied it to my arms as sparingly as I could, every night as directed, and it really started sloughing off the skin. In the morning I washed with Neutrogena Body Wash and then used either AmLactin or Nutracort lotion. Before I started this regimen I scrubbed pretty vigorously with a buff puff, but I found out that I had to wash much more gently after using the Tazorac because it's strong enough on its own. It will take your skin off! After several days I had a pretty severe "burn" and stopped using it for several days. --Too much Tazorac, too much scrubbing. I thought I might have ruined my skin because it was such a different texture, very dry, but that was only temporary. I just found that I couldn't use the Tazorac every day as prescribed. Once or twice a week was enough for me. After I found the proper balance, I was very pleased with the results. It takes care of the bumps and the redness. It's been awhile since I read about it, but I believe Tazorac actually slows the proliferation of keratinocytes. Another person using Tazorac posted back in November I think, and he applies a pea sized amount to slightly wet arms. The label says to apply it to dry skin, but that's for psoriasis, not kp. I started using his method because it allowed me to use much less but still get coverage all over my arms. I think it turned out to be a very good regimen, and I'm sure I'll go back to it again someday. Some people mentioned that it was prohibitively expensive, but with my insurance, it was very affordable. --And once again, a little goes a long, long way!
