Does this occur on a child's face?

I just had a dermotologist tell me my 6 year old son has this on his face. I can't imagine scrubbing the face with anything abrasive. Does this sound right? Does this turn into a type of acne? And, any naturel suggestions would be appreciated. thanks |

My 18 month old has had it on his face since he was less than a year. He uses LacHydrin, but when I tried some very gentle exfoliation, it made his skin too raw. Children's skin is much too sensitive for any heavy duty exfoliation. |

My son is 8 and he has Kp on his face, developed it when he was 7 on his face.. Did the derm. recommend any kind of treatment?? My son is using Erythromycin gel 2%, prescription from his derm, and his face is about 70 percent improved in just 2 and a half weeks.. This is not acne.. the gel my son is using is an acne med., but many acne meds can be used for Kp, since it has a drying effect.. Good Luck!!1 |

HI, Ive had kp since I was born. My parents never really got me on a treatment until I was 15. No cream or medicine from a derm has helped me. But, my kp has gotton a lot better since I was a child. The derm might have told you that your sons kp will get better once he becomes an adult. Your sons kp won't turn in to acne at all. So, thats a good thing. Best of luck with your son! = ) |

My teen has kp on her face (the sides of it and forehead hairline, and eyebrows-but barely anymore, thanks be!). We were prescribed differen gel, for acne, and its helped really well with both the kp and any acne spots that pop up. She's had kp since she was in grade school but it never got bad until she hit her teen years, and we finally got a name for what this was. Anyway, I don't recommend exfoliating. Hopefully a derm or doctor can help you find something that works on your childs skin. Since your child is not at an age to worry about acne, I would guess that moisturizing well may help. This is a problem with my daughters kp -her acne. If we put anything moisturizing (lotions)on her face, she breaks out in zits. Argh. But, moisturizing seems to help everywhere else, as does using homemade soap. Best of luck! |
