Cause of redness question

Does anyone know whether the redness in KP is due to the pore being infected from the keratin build-up, etc.? This seems a reasonable cause of the redness, and might explain why topical applications such as Tea Tree Oil (having anti-bacterial agents?) might help reduce the red appearance. Thanks for any in-put on this.

I think the redness is mainly due to the fact that fair/celtic skin types suffer from KP the most and it is this "fair" skin type that is very translucent and shows vascular redness more clearly. Also the irritation of the treatment & scrubbing we are undergoing dont help redness either. My theory anyway
