Natural Tips on Maintenace for KP

I've suffered from KP all my life (mostly on the backs of my arms) yet only recently was diagnosed. When I have severe flare-ups, I usually get prescribed minocin which works for a while. I haven't found anything yet that will completely get rid of it, BUT I have found a natural method that is very effective during those "down" times.

After exfoliating in the shower (try a natural loofah sponge) I tab tea tree oil on the backs of my arms. Tea tree is a natural anti-viral and anti-fungant and has been used for skin conditions for ages. (Helps get rod of facial pimples too.) Now because Tea tree oil is very drying on the skin, I like to mix it natural oil. Some natural and beneficial skin oils to try are vitimin E oil (for extremely dry skin patches) evening primrose oil or my absolute favorite, emu oil. Emu oil may sound a bit unusual, but it does wonders for keeping your entire body soft and smooth. (For more info on emu oil, go to the American Emu Association online). I have been using the tea tree-emu combo for 6 months now: one of my arms has completely cleared up and the other is nearly KP free.

I wouldn't reccomend this in place of traditional medicinal methods, but it's a great routine for maintenance. Most of the oils I mentioned can usually be obtained thru your local health food store. Emu oil is primarily sold in australia and new zealand, but they are available at various online websites. Just do a search for them on google.

Good luck
