The more you cover up the more kp?

I don't know if you remember but a while ago i posted a link to dr. bernarr's site (who claimed we could permanently and completely heal our kp if we followed his six "methods" Two of those were proper sunbathing and airbathing. Now, I have gathered from reading many previous posts and from my own experience that the sun does help clear kp. What i need to know is if anyone of you walks around in the house or ever goes out sleeveless or wearing shorts and still have very noticeable kp in those areas. i'm curious because i almost always wear 3/4 shirts in the summer, and i have kp only down to the part covered by the shirt. Connection? Are we really helping ourselves by covering up? I know he's right about other things too, i'm just not sure if he's right about this one. I'm so sick of lotions and creams, it's like going on a diet, it may help u lose weight while ur on it, but we all know the real key to losing weight and keeping it off is eating less and exercising more. Maybe the doc really does have the cure and it's that simple. (sorry for the long post) |

It was this past summer. I did not get out there as much as I would have liked to, I have a 23 month old daughter and it's hard for me to handle her alone by the pool. So if she took a nap I would go out w/ the monitor but naps seem to become more and more less the older she gets. Its private out there so no one can see my skin, not that it's bad but it's not the same as when I did not have this stupid KP. I think I will be better this summer because the S. Soap has helped so much and the bumps are gone and the dots have faded, so I'm hoping w/ a tan I will feel better about myself this summer. Sorry this is so long.Kim |

I'm rather new around here. Could you please repost that link of the Dr's site. I would really appreciate that. Thankyou. I completely agree that it can be that simple. My KP came when I begin to do more activities indoors then out during my teenage years. It blossomed out of no where and I never noticed that it came when I started to avoid the outside air and the sun. Another thing I've noticed is that my KP doesnt get worse or is better when I dont think about and dont touch it. |

Hi Sheyla, Thanks, that was an interesting read. I've always been interested in health topics and have done some formal study in health and fitness. Do you know what kind of professional background the doctor has? I find some of the points he makes in the article a bit questionable and notice that much of it is his opinion rather than based on fact. Anyway, to answer your theory about covering up...I live in Brisbane Australia, am 23 and have had KP on the backs of my upper arms for as long as I can remember. In my early teenage years, I felt self conscious about it and covered up with sleeves, but I'm so used to it now that I wear sleeveless tops almost every day in summer (its far too hot here anyway). Sometimes people notice it and ask what it is but I don't let it worry me. I'm active and spend a lot of time outdoors so I get quite a bit of sun and fresh air exposure during summer. My KP always improves during summer but its difficult to say whether thats due to the warmer weather or not covering up. I encourage you to try it - your KP may improve, but from my experience, sun and air exposure will not make it disappear altogether like the artice claims. Hope this helps! |

I agree with Samara. I always get some sun on KP affected areas in the summertime. It temporarily improves the appearance of KP, but it doesn't make it go away. |
