kp-rubra faceii or rosacea?

I've had kp for as long as I can remember.It started on my legs as a child,moved to my arms at about 16,now it remains on my arms and on my face.I was diagnosed with rosacea about a year ago.What I am beginning to wonder after doing some research on the facial aspect of kp is perhaps this is not rosacea I have,but rubra faceii.The bumps on my face seem to be exactly the same as the ones on my arms.The person that did the diagnosis was Not a doctor she was an esthetician,who then called in a nurse practitioner to take a quick look at my face and both agreed that yes it looked like rosacea to them.I think I need to go see a derm.Has anyone else had this experience?I have the bumps on my cheeks,and my face(all my skin)is very sensitive to many products-becoming very red and irritated,and my skin is very dry.Are there many of you out there with this stuff on your face also?If so what products do you use on your face to help with the bumps?Thank you all in advance for your help.

Hi Laurie - I to was misdiagnosed with Roscacea when it in fact was a kind of KP - and this was done by a dermatologist! I suggest you ask around or post on this board how to find a dermatologist in your area that is familiar with KPRF. There are a couple of treatments talked about in medical journals for this condition ie. isotretion and also laser therapy but it would be best to work through a dermatologist experienced with KPRF to find out the treatment best for you.
