Retin A microgel and itching

Hi!

I was wondering if retin a microgel is supposed to itch after putting it on, I have used it before not for very long though because of the cost but i have tried alot of other things that have not worked for me so i decided to go back to it. It did not itch before, that was also in the summer though. I have only been using 3 times a week because the tube is so little and i have a very widespread case. I would appreciate any reply's. Thanks!

I remember a couple years ago when I was using retin A cream & experienced some itching occasionally. I basically think it's because it dries your skin out which causes it to itch. Are you using some sort of moisturizer afterwards? You may want to try Lubriderm Advanced Therapy. Let the Retin A soak in for an hour then apply the lotion. Hope this helps you.

Thank You so much for replying. I do have a couple of questions though, my first one is did you itch a lot or just more than usual.I itch and when i itch it never seems like it's satisfied it just itches more. My second question is did you keep on using it and did the itch ever go away? I am using a lotion after the retin a i was using AM Lactin Lotion, then i read somewhere on the internet that it could increase your chances to make your skin more sensitve to retin a, so that might be the problem. i am not sure so now i am using curel lotion without the retin a. Sorry this is so long. I would appreciate it if you would reply!

THANKS!!

Just went & found an old bottle I still had for the itching. It's called Desowen .05%. Me, let me tell you, it really did alleviate my itching. I believe it's by prescrip. only but I don't think it was that expensive. It was covered under my insur. Good luck to you!

Hey me! I used retin-a for a number of years & would notice that my skin would start to itch if I was using it too much. Example: my derm said to use it daily & I had to cut back to using it every 2-3 days because it just really dried my skin out which caused it to itch. He had me using that & alternating it w/ some other cream(sorry I can't remember right now what it was) & the itching stopped. I had pretty good results from the retin-a on the KP on my arms. It really seemed to keep it at a manageable state & even at times made it almost appear to be gone. Over time for some reason my KP got worse & the retin-a just didn't seeem to work anymore for me. Same thing w/ differin lotion, at first seemed to work well, then it's like my skin becomes immune or something. Crazy I know! Anyhow I hope this info helps. Sorry so loooong! Merry Christmas!!
