warning about oxy
oh dear, the reaction I have had to oxy 5 is really severe. It had reduced me to tears today, I have first degree burns on my arms. They look far far worse than they ever have with KP (still there I should add). I have done some research and found that sulphur should not be mixed with benzoyl peroxide oops. Please be really careful when using combinations of things. I feel that I have been so stupid. Bang go my chances of nicer arms for Christmas I look like I,ve put a blowtorch to my arms and the heat and pain is awful. Please post if you have any words of comfort I am concerned that I have caused permanent damage and feel quite depressed. I feel like I'm being punished for trying to make my skin better, I've been trying so hard. |

don't worry, i think oxy darkens your skin. When i used it on my arms, my arms started looking really dark and really dry, but when you stop the oxy, ur skin eventually goes back to normal and even better than before! |

hi helen, first of all, let me say that i very much feel for you. i've had KP since birth and i've been trying to get rid of mine for a while now. i know the last thing anybody needs is a bad reaction to a treatment. it baffles me to hear that your reaction to Oxy 5 has been so severe. how many times a day were you using it, and how long have you been using it? the severity of the reaction you are describing seems to suggest someone who's been using it WAY to often, but i'm sure you were obviously not doing that. i know that Kim used hers for two months (i think) and it got rid of her spots. do you usuallly have extremely sensitive skin? you have obviously had some sort of an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients in the product. and the fact that Oxy 5 shouldn't be used in conjunction with sulfur is news to me! that would certainly put a chink in peoples plans. either way, it seems now what you need to do is heal yourself. what have you been doing to treat your arms? do you have aloe vera readily available in the UK? it will help with healing your burn a great deal and it will also help prevent scarring, although i doubt you will have to worry about that. also, if you can find some Advil or some other ibuprofen product, it will do wonders for your pain. it's always helped me after i've been burned very badly by the sun. as for the redness, i would think that you will just have to wait until your arms heal, although that's probably not what you want to hear. as for Christmas, is your reaction only on your upper arms? if it is, maybe you could wear a 3/4 length top or dress?? it's winter time so it's not warm so you won't be too hot! i think you should really concentrate on healing your arms and then working back slowly to treating yourself again. and please, please don't let this get you down too much. your arms will heal and you are definitely not being punished for trying to treat your KP! just concentrate on getting better :-) |

Hi. let me tell you about my routine cos it sounds way less painfull than your's. I use sulfur soap with a scrubing brush from superdrug it has a long removable handle. then when i get out of the bath (don't use any bubble bath etc) i apply acqueous cream, you can get it from any pharmacy and its very cheap. I also take 1-2 msm capsules a day. It's a slow process but i am deffinately getting some results. |
