To any who have had laser surgery

My appointment for surgery with the candela laser is about 1 week away. I read on an earlier post that the redness will go away only temporarily. My laser surgeon also said it's possible that new blood vessels can emerge later. So has anyone had this happen, or are the effects mostly permanent?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Rob, if you get results from your laser treatment then you know it works for you and you can go back every couple of years if you need. But it's not always easy to destroy the damaged vessels which are causing the redness. The hardest part is to find a Doc who knows what he's doing and is willing to experiment until you find an effective treatment. I've been through many treatments with different lasers and only recently have I seen any clearance. If you do find the right settings which work for you, keep hold of them so you can use them again in the future!

I have heard that IPL photorejuvenation laser is the most effective for facial redness associated with KP.

Hi LL. I don't know where you heard that. Unless you're speaking from personal experience, you're probably going by the hype on some of the Photoderm sites. I've had over 15 Photoderm treatments with a range of experts in different countries and got zero results. Not just limited results - NO results! This has also been the experience of every single other person with KPRF that I know of. Photoderm has achieved some results for classic Rosacea, but not for this condition. I've also heard doctors tell me the same thing. Lasers are the only way to go at the moment.

I had laser tx on my face for redness two years ago and only a few broken vessels have come back. Things are still much much better! But, the several doctors that I consulted before tx all said that the redness will come back somewhat over time. But, we're talking years later. To me, it's worth it. I figure I'll go for a touch up in another year or so. I totally recommend the laser!

You guys who have seen results from the lasers, which ones did they use on you and what where the settings if you remember? I have had multiple treatments from Candela, V Beam, and the Epilight and nothing worked very well.

OK, well though I am not talking from personal experience which is really the only thing that matters whtat I was talking about is laser and it is called IPL. By the way I know from personal experience that microdermabrasion does nothing for this kind of skin, only makes it temporarily redder and more dry. If any one has personal experience I would like to know which laser works best since I was thinking about trying IPL.
Take care

IPL is not a laser. It stands for Intensed Pulsed Light and refers to technologies such as Photoderm where light is pulsed into the skin. Lasers are a different technology - laser light is very narrow and specific.
