For over a year, I've been taking a dietary supplement that includes 1000 mg of MSM per day (along with glucosamine and chondroitin). I take it for arthritis, and it has helped my arthritis, but it hasn't had any effect on my KP whatsoever. Maybe I should be taking a larger dose? Or maybe my KP simply isn't caused by a sulfur deficiency?

How much MSM do I take?
We always recommend starting at a low level of between 500 and 1000 mg (eighth to a quarter teaspoon) per day. Stay at that level for about a week and then add another 500 to 1000 mg per day and stay at that level for a week. Continue in the same way for several weeks never adding more than 2000 mg (half teaspoon) at one time, until you are taking between 6 and 8 teaspoons per day. This high level makes up for the years of deficiency that your body has experienced. Then reduce the amount to a maintenance level for whatever works for you. This is a balance between addressing what you want to address and being able to sleep as well as you would like at night. For most people the maintenance level is between 1 and 2 teaspoons (4000 to 8000 mg) per day. Always drink LOTS of water when starting on MSM or when increasing the amount you are taking.

Hope this helps.

i think with "me" and "vjcajun" having so much success in such a short period of time, it is getting everyone's hopes up. this is a good thing, but i hope people won't become disappointed if they don't see results in 1 or 2 weeks like the others did. i have been taking 2 1000mg pills a day for around a week and i haven't seen any noticeable changes yet and i think this is perfectly normal - it's only been a week! i've had this condition my entire life (31 yrs. and counting!) so i'll be taking these pills for a few months before i hope to see any major improvements. everyone will improve (hopefully) at their own rate, so please don't get discouraged anybody! have patience! but hey, if clear skin came up and bit me on the #ss tomorrow, i wouldn't turn it away...
