Okay, I know I've posted a lot lately so I'll just reiterate once more then shut up. I'm telling you, try MSM! I cannot believe the wonders it has done not just for the KP, but for the overall appearance and condition of my skin. Not to be long winded, but here is my history of KP. Just in case there is anyone with the same history. I developed KP about age 14. I'm 27 now. I never new what it was back then. Just thought it was pimples or something stemming from puberty. In the beginning it was just on my upper arms, but soon spread to my forearms, back, butt, legs and face. I have always had a history of skin problems. When I was a toddler I would break out into viscous rashes accompanied by high fevers due to dermatitis. Also about the time the KP appeared, I had really bad dandruff. Not just flakes, but really thick build-up of dead skin on the scalp. That has dissapeared over time, but the KP remained. Once I found out what it was, I began searching for a cure. I can't even tell how many hours and how much money I spent on researching products that I thought would help. The KP has been a source of great sadness, anger and depression. It has affected my self-esteem, social confidence and romantic/intimate life. I was even at the point once of not only contemplating suicide, but devising a plan to best carry it out. After finding this site, I visited often, reading every post carefully, hoping someone would have an answer. Once the sulphur thing came up (to be taken internally, not just the sulphur soap) I did some research and found the MSM pills at a vitamin/health food store. Ther are not expensive (no more than any other vitamin or dietary supplement) I have been taking 2 1000 mg pills daily for a week and I cannot believe it. My KP is actually dissapearing before my eyes. The red inflamation has subsided, and the dots are fading quick. No, I do not work for any pharmaceutical company that sells this stuff or any of that jazz...I would encourage anyone who has not tried this to do so. I know all things affect different bodies differently, but I am exstatic!! Thanks for the site, everyone's input and suggestions. I never would have stumbled upon the sulphur thing without this site. There really is strength in numbers. May whatever God you believe in bless you all!! Happy Thanksgiving too.

Hi Vjcajun and everyone else, I'm glad your KP's going away now that you're on MSM. I also have KP on my thighs and butt and it's pretty severe and very temperamental. I tried deleting dairy from my diet for two weeks and call me impatient, but it hasn't really helped much although I'm pretty sure my diet affects my KP. Anyway, what I wanted to know Vjcajun was whether you've eliminated certain types of food from your diet as well. If so, do you think this is also a reason why your MSM program is such a success?

Opti MSM recommends taking epsom baths and such to help sweat out some of the toxins. My detox has stopped, though, so I'm back to 1000mgs a day with no problems. I must have been pretty toxic!

Now that my skin is looking great, i need to lose weight so I can finally wear whatever bathing suit I want this summer!!!

I like the way the powder can be mixed into a beverage, so I open up the capsuls and pour the contents into my coffee. I don't know if it makes a big difference, but I personally believe it is easier for my body to absorb if it is liquified, versus in a capsule. By the way--it is fading my stretch marks--is there no end to miracles?!

thank you for being so honest about your situation. it is very sad that so many people have suffered so much because of this condition, but it is also very comforting to finally realize that there are other people out there who have been going through the exact same thing for so many years. when you have KP, especially a severe case, it is very tough to go through life meeting &quot;normal&quot; people who don't have this condition; people who don't think twice about wearing shorts/skirts or sleeveless tops. i literally haven't shown my legs in public since around the age of 12 and i am now 31. i can very much identify with the questions and comments from friends and acquaintances. wearing pants in 45 degree weather (which would be around 115 - 120 in the States) doesn't usually go unnoticed. like you said, life can be desperately sad and depressing, but i really think this board could be the key to helping a lot of people. it's just a matter of finding out which regimen works for you, without going bankrupt in the process! in agreement with you, i think MSM is a good place to start. it seems like a relatively cheap way to maybe achieving fantastic results, and it appears to be quite easy to get hold of. i'm on my third day with them and i am hoping that i will be as lucky as you have been. so me, class of '89, mark, c.george, all the kim's and everyone else on this board - don't lose faith and keep trying to find a solution. i think once we do, we will be able to appreciate our new-found happiness much more than we would have otherwise.

Oh yeah, I also added some to my favorite Skin so Soft lotion by adding 2 tablespoons of boiling water to 4 teaspoons of MSM/100ml of lotion. In other words, my lotion was 500ml, so I added the water to 20 teaspoons of MSM, stirred for a while, then slowly stirred in the lotion. The MSM takes a few hours to totally disolve but it will eventually. I've read that you can add it to any lotion--the thicker the better since you're adding water. I find the lotion feels nice (I live in the Southwest desert) but I think the real key is the internal stuff. It's kind of fun to use lotion for the smell and feel instead of in desperation for a KP cure!

I am a vegetarian--most of the time--I do eat meat occassionally. I also drink a lot of milk--I love it! I started taking calcium, Vit E and beta carotene. Fish oil as well, but I'm going to switch to flax seed oil when I run out. I think being a vegetarian does help my skin-too many extra hormones and such in meat these days...
