BP, Steroids and redness
Hey guys,I went to see another dermatologist yesterday. He prescribed DesOwen lotion, which is a steroid. He said it was slightly stronger than 2% hydrocortisone. He said that the redness should disappear in 2 weeks and then I should not use the lotion until it comes back due to dangers with prolonged use (as JC cautioned us before on steroid creams). We shall see if this works. I asked him about BP as a means of reducing redness. He said that BP does not work in that way. It is antibacterial and promotes shedding of skin, but does not reduce inflammation (which is what causes the redness). I'm not saying he's necessarily right bc in my experience doctors in general barely know what they are talking about. Just wanted to communicate this to the board. I am currently still using keralyt and urea, but the improvement has been marginal after 2 months. |

My dad's a doctor and a patient came in to inquire about their KP and my dad had to call me up to find out about it haha and to tell the person what products to use etc. |
