What to do for the children? Need advice. Please respond.

I have two daughters, age 13 and 9, both with KP. My oldest has the red dots and squishy keratin filled bumps on her upper arms and thighs, the youngest has it everywhere, but just colorless bumps that make it seem like she always has goosebumps. On the one hand, neither of them seem to even realize they have anything, so I think I should ignore it and not give them a complex by drawing attention to it. On the other hand, I want to be proactive and spare them the scars and embarrasment they may endure later in life. Do I start treating their KP now or do I wait and see if they bring it up before I offer treatments? |

I'd bet your thirteen year old has noticed it. She may too embarrassed to mention it. That's how I was. Perhaps a gentle way to ask if she would like to treat it would work. I'd wait on the 9 year old until she gets all self-concious and hormonal. Of course, that happens sooner and sooner these days.. |

Your kids are lucky to have a Mom who will be not only willing, but also knowledgable enough to help them. The Mom in me says wait until they ask and then deal w/it. They'll ask sooner or later. I remember asking my Mom about it a very young age. P.S. Today I'm playing the part of the child psycologist who thinks she knows what she's talking about.(smile)PSS, Denver is my hubby. ![]() |

So he would be playing the part of the sneaky husband, lurking around the corner, waiting to come to the defense of his damsel in distress then? You gotta have one of those in any good storyline! Thanks for the advice. |
