Glytone - what is a normal reaction?

My dermatologist recommended Glytone Body Wash and Lotion for the KP in my arms. I have been using it for the last 3 days, exfoliating in the shower and rubbing the lotion afterwards.
I have noticed:
1. That my skin appears very irritated
2. That when I put on the lotion it really stings.
I have the impression the condition is getting worse and I don't know if is normal that the lotion stings. I wonder if it is one of those "needs to get worse before it gets better" cases. My KP never hurt before. Has anyone out there had the same symptoms with these products? Are the symptons normal?
