question for Kim re sulfur soap
I'm from Aus and I have been treating my KP with Retin A for 3 months now (along with Vit A supplements), my KP has vastly improved, however I've had some breakouts for a few days now because I forgot to take my supplements for a couple of days and I've been eating really badly. Anyway, I have decided to change my regimen because too much Vit A, even if applied topically to your skin is bad for your body. I've decided to change my regimen to using sulfur soap after reading how much success you've had with this. I will also use AHA lotions and Palmers Cocoa lotion with AHA. Just a question for those who's been successful with Sulfur soap, do you scrub before or during shower? how long do you leave the sulfur soap on your skin? and what is a stiff brush? is that just a plain bristle body brush? and can u use loofah? Would really appreciate it if you could please answer my queries. Thanks. |

I scrub the S. Soap w/ the brush in the shower and work into a lather and shave w/ that. I use a brush w/ a handle, used for nails and it did take a week or so to get used to. It's not small it's medium in size and I only use the brush on my legs and backs of my arms(KP is not bad on arms). Thats how I got rid of the bumps, they were gone w/in 2 wks. Apply the brush gently in circular motion. You will build up to the amount of pressure you can stand. I did this for 2 mos. before I came across the Oxy and then I added that along w/ lubriderm Lotion(don't think you can get it where you live). The Palmers should be good and if it's not you can try a richer lotion. The sulfur soap took the bumps away and I hope you have luck w/ this. I don't like loofah's because I'm afraid of the bacteria that can build up inside of them. The brush can be cleaned, it's all plastic and my Doc said I would get good results w/ it. The first few times you use the brush you may open some bumps and they may bleed a little but this will pass once the bumps flatten. If you don't like the brush then try the loofah but take it outside the shower so it can air dry instead of sitting in moist air where bacteria can build up.Kim |
