I have had both laser txs
Originally posted by from the KP trenches
I have had both types of laser treatments that your dermatologist described for my facial redness with broken capilaries. In my experience, the one that bruises REALLY bruises!!! There was no way for me to cover it up - it was dark blue and black all over my face for a little over a week. That said, it did destroy the capilaries permanently after one shot. I still prefer the pulse laser, which was much more gentle and, I think, the way to go for my overall facial redness. In terms of recovery, my face was really red for a few hours afterwards but it went away and no one knew that I was having the treatments. I had about 4 before my wedding two years ago and my face has never again been as red as before and I have no visible capilaries. I think I will have it done again in a few years. Like I said, it was great for my overall facial redness - I just can't imagine having one big black bruise for my face. The two dermatologists with whom I've spoken about laser tx of facial redness both said the pulse laser was the way to go and that the bruising one was the "old way." But that's just their opinions! If your dermatologist recommended both, then I'm sure either would do the trick - and your skin may be different than mine. I will tell you though, the bruising really can't be covered up totally. You can tone it down but it still looks bad. My boyfriend freaked out when he saw me bc. I had't told him I was going for treatment. Whichever you decide to do, I think you will be pleased with the end result. It really did make a huge and lasting difference for me!! Good luck! |

Just curious about what these laser treatments cost. I am sure my health insurance won't over it. I am 36 and in the last three years my cheeks have gotten redder, and wearing cover-up makeup is tough when you are a man. |

For the Candela laser it costs $400 for the first one and $200 for each one after that, and the estelux is $300 and $150 for each one after that. Unfortunately, insurance will NOT pay for it. Still, if it works it will be worth every penny for me. |
