Baby diagnosed with KP
My 20 month old was just diagnosed with KP on Monday. She has had a rash on both her upper thighs for about 3 months and I just dismissed it as "dermatitis." Since that time,I've found this website and appreciate all the info and "recipes" for success you guys have written. Being she is so young, I need to call my pediatrician about the usage of salycilates on her legs which is a component of the sulfer soap. I hope this rash stays contained to her legs only. I don't know anyone on either side of the family that has it,but according to the genetic scientist that posted here,it could have been "carried" and noone knew it. I read the article from the mom whose baby had been diagnosed and that she cried about it and her husband thought she was over-reacting. Well,as a mom,we tend to think into the future. Anything "abnormal" in our children makes us worry(more than we already do!). I'm worried this will cause her embarrassment in her life and that society will be a harsh judge of her. Image is important and we are all judged by this. One lady responded to her by saying,"things could be alot worse." Well, they always can,but unless it's your child, you might be able to have that insensitive approach. We all want to be "normal" and have "normal" children. Anyway, keep the "recipes" coming because I've been watching the sight and learning alot. Being an RN, I have never heard of KP myself. I hope I can alleviate this for my daughter who means the world to me.
Thanks
